Is This Outrageous?
2002 Dodge Durango
Check Engine Light comes on.
So I took my truck to the dealership. The advisor said that the code thrown was a small hose leak. They ran a diagnostic and said they couldn't find anything wrong. Cleared the code.
Charge $79.95.
My personal feeling was that if the light comes on ...
1) There is something wrong. Find it and fix it.
2) The light coming on was faulty. I shouldn't be charged.
Before I blow a gasket on this, what is the feeling by the members of this community? Did I get ripped off?
Thanks.

Are you under warrantee? Almost everybody charges a fee somewhere around $100 to hook you up to a diagnostics machine, whether they find anything or not. Those machines are MAJOR expensive, that's how they pay for them. I've gotta take my Monte in to get hooked up, I'm not looking forward to it. [:@]
No, no warranty.
I guess I'm wrapped around the axle because of the check engine light coming on. Seems to me that something should be "fixed" or I shouldn't be charged. I wouldn't have brought it in but for that light illuminating. [&:]

Couldnt you have pulled the codes yourself? Did they fix your hose leak? New hose? If they fixed the hose leak then I guess you got your money's worth including the diagnostic work.

Yes, next time I'll pull my own codes and due my own troubleshooting.
