02 sensor question
I have a 99 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a 5.2/5 speed and have been having trouble with engine perfoamance whenever the O2 sensors are giving me an output. I bought a new precat sensor and put it in but it didnt help. My question is: Is the post cat sensor the same sensor? because obvoiusly the one I took out was ok, so I want to try putting that in the other one. Or will they not hook up. Just trying to find out before I get under there because I dont have a garage to work in and it is winter here!
I also have an actron CP9145 if anybody has any suggestions of what Data outputs might help my problem search
Thanks for any Help

i was having engine probs with my 99 dakota 5.2 5-speed. rough idle and just crappy performance. i bought an o2 eliminator from fastman.com. i have a brand new pre-cat o2 and replaced the after-cat with an eliminator. runs like a dream. should work for you. but, at least call this guy, he is pretty helpful. you can not buy from the website but, like i said, RUNS LIKE A DREAM. best $75 i ever spent on the truck.
I was told that the only difference between O2 Sensors on a particular vehicle was the length of the wire harness.
Mine appear to be that way but I would imagine Snafu, GM sucks, or Mopar Todd will correct me if I heard wrong.
It ended up being the post cat sensor, Once I got under there to get a good look at it i saw some tiny breaks in the wire casings and the wires inside were green. Went and picked up a new sensor (they were the same but the adapter is a little different) which sucks cuz I had a new pre cat here. Anyhow, I went to put the new one in and it wouldnt FIT! the hole in the Pipe wasnt big enough (the old sensor tip was smaller) So i tried to make it bigger with a file, got the new sensor started in and then it popped out screwin the threads up.... Pulled the whole pipe out of the truck so I had enough room to work on it (there pipes are true custom duals) Well, I filed the hole a little better and ran a tap down the Bun, then a die over the sensor to clean up the thread that popped and it screwed right in. Reassembled the exhaust.. replaced a broken shock then took it for a test drive. I drove it about 5 miles to my buddies after clearing the computer codes, then back home and never had a problem with it. Check Engine light is still off! But.. Ill give it a week before I claim it is definatly fixed LOL
