does anyone have any experience with the new Mobil 1 extended mileage 15000 mile oil. I'm putting it in my intrepid tomorrow, with the infamous 2.7l and I'm wondering if it is really good for 15000 miles

 

I saw it Nicko, but I haven't tried it yet. Let us know what you think. Do they recommend a filter change during the 15K miles?

 

i don't know yet, i just used a fram filter. on the bottle, it says no special filter needed. what i can tell you so far, is it smells when it burns, because i accidentally spilled some on my exhaust manifold.

 

It may not be a bad idea to change the filter at regular intervals. If for no other reason than piece of mind.

I put it in my Ram with the 318 about 1500 miles ago. I had been running the regular Mobil 1 5000 miles with Mobil 1 filters with no bad signs. To change the filter, just turn it off and turn the new one on and top up with oil after running the engine for a while to completely fill the new filter. If your filter mounts with the open end in an upright position fill it before putting it on.

 

Mopar Todd. according to Mobils website a quality filter will last 15000 miles.

 

a filter may last 15000 miles but at the price of filters why take the chance of it not lasting. a quality filter with a tighter media (which filters better) offers some restriction in flow. any filter media can hanlde so much dirt before it goes into bypass mode and lets unfilteres oil go by. some filters even can go into bypass and not even be noticed by the average consumer.
