Can anyone give me some instructions on installing a cam for my neon....im pretty illiterate about mechanics. thank you.

 

Your best bet is to get a Chiltons and/or a Haynes manual on your car. They will give you step-by-step instructions and specs on this. If you don't want to buy the manuals, the library should have them as well.

 

Dude. If you don't have a book or experience with something like this, find somebody who does. I could talk you through it, but it is fairly involved. I'm to lazy to type it out, and would feel guilty if something went wrong.

 

What engine and what specifically do you need, or I guess i can walk you through it step-by step. If it is a 2.0 SOHC the head has to come off, just to get that out of the way up front

 

well i need the timing specs and basic removal of the old one what is needed and involved.

 

there are no timing specs. Just line the timing marks up on the head and block with the marks on the cam gear and crank sproket. That is on a 2.0SOHC, ona 2.0DOHC, line up the 4 marks on the cam sprockets all in a row.

 

ummm...how do i know the timing marks on the camshaft what will they look like?.....sorry i am mechanically dumb....i can fix a computer just fine though.

 

It will be on the cam gear and it will be a dot/dimple or a line/groove. When you see it you will know it, it should be the only mark on it.
