prestone antifreeze
i somehow went low on coolant in my 2003 3.9L v6 dakota. i had switched out my thermostat 1000 miles before and know that is red colored--just not sure if it's dex-cool or something else. all the nearby auto store had were the green antifreeze so i chose the prestone one that said on the bottle "mix with any color antifreeze". i looked in my owner manual and of course the store didn't stock the part number for coolant suggested.
i've only gone 12 miles after topping off the antifreeze and still haven't found the suspected leak.
so my question is am i ok with the mix of olde coolant (RED) and prestone (GREEN)?

i've never heard any complaints about the "mix with any color" anit-freeze and prestone and peak makes that there are probably more but those are the ones i know of

I just went to a seminar at the local NAPA parts store last week. They were showing off the Prestone "mixes with any colour" antifreeze. I have tried to mix Dex-Cool with reguar antifreeze and they will actually separate, given time. This new stuff blended perfectly. Only time will tell if it is as good as they say.

i actually know alot of people ,auto techs alike that are flushing out dex cool type coolant for the regular green glycol coolant due to the fact that dex cool type formulas contain alot of silica and are causing acid type problems with aluminum motors over time.
