Do you mean you lose all electrical power and engine shuts off?
Sounds like a bad battery connection.
Or does the engine just die out? if so...
Get the connector pin schematic for the pcm, at the moment he engine wont start, check the pcm for all 5 volt and 8volt supply, 12volt supply , and grounds, just backprobe the pcm connector with a voltmeter. Do test with key on.
could be a bad pcm
Does anyone know of a forum similar to this one but for Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Dealer techs only?

Default RE: will not run

I have the same proble but a little bit different... I have a 1999 Dakota RT 5.9... it was starting and shuting off. It would run for 10 minutes and then shut off for 1.5 hours. The gauges on the dash would not work and the odometer reads " NO BUS".. After the 1.5 hours everything comes back to life and the fuel pump fires up and the truck will start. Then when you start it back up it will run for 10 minutes again and then shut off. This time when it shut off I replaced the PCM and it still would not start.. I removed the Crank Sensor and cooled it off to 50 degrees.. Installed it back in and still will not start... Checked all the sensors and they read 5 volts. Wait the 1.5 hours and it will start back up... this time I had a Scanner hooked up to it and when it shut off I got a message ( LOST CONNECTION). This all started when I put a new radio in it... So I put the old redio back in messed around with nthe remote start and now it will not start at all. the dash reads ( No Bus ).. The odd part is it always would run for 10 minutes exactly and shut off for 1.5 hours. I have checked all relays, sensors and everything is to spec. I can't get the cluster to talk to the PCM.... Please help. I think it is in the remote start, but now 100% sure

"This time when it shut off I replaced the PCM and it still would not start"
I'm not sure if this applies to your year truck but when you replace the PCM you need to go into it with the scanner and inter in the car's VIN number or it will start run and stall. What kind of scanner are you using? I'm only used to using Chrysler's DRB 3.
Is the PCM you tried from another truck or did you buy it new?
Usually a no bus warning would mean a bad cluster or a bad PCM.
Checking sensors for 5 volts is good but you need to check directly at the PCM to make sure its sending out its 5 volt and 8 volt supply signals, and its ground signals. You need to backprobe the wires directly at the PCM connector with a volt meter, and you have to do this when the car is not starting. **Never try to send voltage or ground to the PCM**

The extra PCM was purchased and programed for the truck, so I bascially have two. This all started when a NEW radio was installed. I did some of the back probeing and from what I checked all the volt eadings are correct. The scanner I am using is a Snapon MT2500 with all the latest and greatest. But it will not connect to the PCM... it says no signal.
