the dang check engine light is on after a wash job and motor compartment degreasing.. no heavy water spray but a rinse off after a cleaning now the dang check engine light is on ??????? anyone have this happen before? im new to rams

 

I have heard of it happening before. Give it a day or two to dry out throughly and then disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes and reconnect it. If it comes on after that, then you may have a problem.

I have never washed my engine before and man you should see the dirt and grime on my engine from my road!

Chances are what has happened is that when you washed the engine compartment water got down in the spark plugs holes and caused a cylinder or multiple cylinders miss-fire which would turn the check engine light on. If you pull your wires up and there is water in the holes take some brake clean and spray in the holes. Do not put the wires directly back on though let it sit there maybe 15 minutes. The brake clean will absorb the water(as long as there is not too much) and then evaporate. If this is the problem.
Another possibilty is if you have a distributor cap water may have gotten in there but you would have running problems.
