Default True Duals =Lost power? 04 hem

i beleive it was a 5.7 and it sound'd straight up gut wrencing mad, whenhe love pat's the gas petal, buthe thinks helost a lot of petal response and at this momenti believe the latemodel vehicles that are out and about need the cat for some sort of backpressure, i would go with having ur stock, outtake pipe on the cat widened out into a 3.25 to 3.50 then runnin into a equal size muffler ur choice,in my personaloppinion the flowmaster sounds beefy but look into its design,on the ones i hadlookd like a shoe box one corner was the inlet and on the middle of the otherside was the out let, isnt that a little restrictive, as to my borla looks like a footand a half long football, kinda straight through design no restrictions, like plates or little wall baffles,

I had mine on the rack last week at Midas. The stock system pipes are well thought out, 2 X 2.25" into 3" all mandrel bent, andcapable of flowing quite a bit the way they are. The only gain wouldmaybebe in changing the muffler, and that would probably be minimal. We did remove the resonator just for kicks, and it's still pretty quiet.

These gains some companies come up with are pretty incredible. I think Borla claims like 17HP for a HEMI Ram, but their system is just from the muffler back, not a true catback like they claim. I'd have to see that to beleive it, especially after reading the previous posts. I just don't believe there is that much left on the table.

One thing or several things which I have not seen mentioned is actual measurement of performance gains. Aside from the gas mileage calculations I have not seen anyone mention 0-30, 0-60, or dyno results. We all like to think we can notice a difference by the seat of our pants but experience tell me, although it is expensive that you need to baseline your truck. Record the day, weather etc full or half tank of fuel and make several runs. Record the results. If you have access to a dyno, spend the money and make several pulls. Once you have a baseline, then and only then can you really determine the benenfits/detriments of your mods. It's a pain in the a** but it is tried and true.

See we have true dual flows for our 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, I could feel the difference... gave it more middle end torque.

I installed my CAI-Air Ram and I can tell the difference in pull and I can hear the difference in the deep MOAN under accelleration and exhaust..This hemi is trying to push a lot of air through this single exhaust for sure....NOW I wish I had the duals............(kicking myself in the a$$)

Chalk it up to trial & error.[sm=smiley24.gif]And in doing so you have now helped others to make a well informed decision.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]
