CAI Theory.....
So i was thinkin about carbs and what not then, i remembered reading about the venturi in a carb. Now the venturi is a smaller gap in the carb itself when the air is moving goes into this smaller gap and increases the flow before it enters the piston. Now if the velocity of the air increases as it flows through the venturi shouldnt it be the same with all tubeular air velocities?
Now if you take you custom CAI and construct it with a venturi somehow wouldn't it be like a mini super charger? Now if everything works like a carb the air should be moving faster after it moves through the narrower space. The faster the air gets into the TB the more power you can make, and the added velocity should keep the air cooler. Question is will it work with the length of the tube and how to construct such a device.

Actually the venturi works basically just like the wing on an airplane, one side is flat (the outside) and the other side is curved (the inside). For the air to travel over both surfaces' and stay the same on both sides, the air going over the curved part has to travel faster creating lower pressure, thus pulling the fuel out more and easier. Trying to do something like this inside a CAI pipe/tube would only make some of the air speed up, but this would also be taking up space which would defeat the gains from it.
Thats what i was thinking. Also the length might be a problem too. Tooo long and it might lose its speed anyways. But just a thought right. Seriously i dunno about you guys but whenever i shower these kinds of great thoughts come to me, only in the shower though.
Increased air speed does not mean increased flow. Increased volume can mean more flow.The ventura in the carb restrickes flow to create a vaccuum.But you could increase air "speed" just by putting on a small throttle body.
It isn't the restricting of flow that creates a vacuum in the venturi, it's the shape of the inside of the venturi that speeds up the air flow inside the venturi which creates a stronger vacuum signal to pull the fuel out. It does this in the exact same way the shape of an airplanes wing creates lift, by forcing the air to travel over the top curved surface of the wing faster than the flat bottom surface which creates lower pressure over the top surface, thus lift. And vacuum is lower pressure.

so since we are looking for more air this would be a bad thing to have low pressure in there? I know the venturi works like an airplane wing and if a wing can get lift and fly why couldnt the tube supply more air?
Low pressure is a product of vacuum and that is what happens within the intake tube as the engine draws in air through it. Addind a venturi into the tube would effectively speed the air flow a little, but doing so would reduce the volume of air that could pass through the tube. It's all a balancing act between volume and velocity, in general more volume equals more horsepower, but more velocity equals more torque. It all comes down to what you want more, horsepower or torque.
