Suggestions on Exhaust for 98 Durango 5.9L
I'm a proud owner of my first domestic...I hope it treats me well. However, I want better gas mileage out of my gas guzzler. So, I'll do prolly a K&N intake -- cone filter with intake "snorkel" replacement and a cat-back.
So my question is...I'd like an efficient cat-back from a good manufacturer that's not *loud*. I have a race car, this is my daily driver. Obviously it will open up the flow and make it a bit beefier sounding, but for instance, glasspacks are out, etc. What's best for the Durango 5.9? and what's the quietest and I'll compromise somewhere =)
Thanks!

Hello!! Welcome to DF!
You are going to have a hard time getting much more out of the gas mileage. Not that it's not possible, it's just that they seem to suck the gas. The K&N is a great idea... I have a Mopar Performance Cat Back Exhaust, and I think it's fantastic, although stock looking... LOL!
I'm assuming you have a Talon? Share it with us, and the Durango... let's see!!

No pics of the Durango yet...soon come though.
So your Mopar Perf. cat-back exhaust, how much louder did it make your truck?

LOVE IT!! Very Very Very Very Very Impressive!! Love the hood on it!!
Carbon Fiber! Nice!!
Well, the power difference was very impressive and it made it deeper and throaty, but not excessive like some other brands (you seem to not want super loud rumble). I'd recommend it. The Mopar Performance Cat Back runs about $375.00 at the dealership for your Durango...

Thanks, I got a new front end for it too (secsky_helix) directory...the 97 front end makes it look mean.
I'll have to check out the mopar exhaust.....so another domestic modding company is flowmaster, are they louder or better flowing or quieter than the mopar? Is the mopar cat-back stainless steel?

They're fairly loud though, right? I'm trying to keep it on the quieter side for an aftermarket exhaust.

We have dual Flows on our 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Now it is pretty quiet, unless you tend to get on it a lot. You will also notice a great boost in performance!
