Default Intakes,Headers,Exhaust

Hello DF fans,

I have noticed recently that there isn't very many mods for the Durango exhaust manifold that fits the Magnum engine. I have a K&N intake kit, and I have a stock exhaust manifold, and headers. I was wondering if changing these stock parts would improve my K&N intake? I would also like to create a box for the filter so it takes less of the engine heat. would I be wasting time and money if I did?

Any mods should compliment the K & N nicely. Making the box is a good idea, it's the same thing that they do in the K & N FIPK. It's not as good as a CAI, but it is better than a typical hot air intake.

I apoligize, I do have the FIPK, with the heat shield. I was planing to move the filter to a area that is away from the engine compartment. Maybe in between the fender and firewall, I don't know. Also to create a snorkel type design. Would that take away from the design of the kit? Or not really.

What type of Headers would you suggest for my Girl. it's a 5.2 1999 4wd. I would like to have more power in the higher rpm's. Do you know of any Cams that are going to help compliment the headers too.
Tallk to ya later

If you do like most CAI's, they put the filter between the inner and outer fenders for the coolest air possible. As long as the pipe is smooth and not ribbed it will be just fine.

The Edelbrock ceramic coated headers for the '03 Hemi put out great power gains, so I would check out what they have for you.

the dodge ram w/ a 5.9 has the air filter box and it has a tube that goes between the inner and outer fender and it apears to be factory since it say magnum on it does this mean its a cai and how much hp will this add over stock and its ribbed where could i get one that isnt ribbed where i could just take that one out and put a different one in the same place

thanx

My SRT-4 also had a factory CAI, but the pipes were smaller and had rough transitions. If yours is getting the air from outside the engine compartment then it is a factory CAI, but the ribbed hoses and the rest of the set-up causes flow disruptions and restrictions. There is the K & N FIPK for your Ram that is good for a 10.83 HP gain or you can get the Mopar Performance CAI.

The 77 series looks really nice, but they don't show any available for your Ram, they only show the FIPK as an option.

I haven't heard of the Fram Airhog airfilters before.
