2005 New Jeep Liberty- Should I or not?>
Ok. I looked into the Jeep Liberty last night at out local dealership (Mike's Motor) in Clinton. I have to advertise for them because they are the best. It was a 2005 and really nice. The Limited edition now comes with a chrome front grille and chrome interior dash covers and etc. It also had a sunroof. I really would like to have a SUV but I am very happy with my neon and my monthly payment of $195.00. I always pay $250.00 for principle and it should be paid off by next year, if not earlier. I guess what I am really needing is advice on if anyone has purchased a Liberty or heard of any mulfunctions with them. I went to the carreview.com forum and read many good things on the Liberty. The only bad thing was the gas mileage ratiings and slow engine shifting ratings when taking off. I can afford the payment, I am not married and have no children and have a "alright" living. No my job is not all that secure (being a VX chem plant that is...was to shut done 5 years ago) but what the hell. Demil has not started yet and we are still farrrr behind so I am not worried about loosing my job.....at least not in the near future. If anyone can offer me and heads up on the Liberty or any insight give me a holler, on the forum or email. I know that being a women is hard when purchasing a vehicle but I DO NOT let anyone hassle me. I will take my business elsewhere that is why I go to our local dealership for everything.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Thanks. Maybe I will and maybe I wont. I am somewhat of a debt free person and all i picture id $$$$$ and big payments again. I will probably chicken out.
i love teh jeep liberty. i have a grand cherokke but it has the 3.7L powertech engine that the nice Libertys do. the gas milage isnt that bad, but then again i am comparing that to a pacifica. it might be bad compared to ur neon. but if u can wait to teh desiel one comes out, that will have very nice gas milage, and from what i have seen diseal gas itsself is cheaper then regular gas. as for Liberty itsself as a car i havent owned one. I ahve driven one before though. they are awesome at offroading. not only will u get teh extra utility from teh suv but u can also take it anywhere.
Hey Neon Girl... I have a funny question for you! How can you have a SXT model Neon when the SXT name badge didn't show up until the 2002? Huh? lol.

Ok smarty pants. Hasent your mother ever taught you to be polite to your elders? You dont think I dint know that? My 2001 Neon is a modified SXT. I added everything I could to place it up in that catagory. Hey, I am only a girl, I can only do so much. It is not like I cant actually aford the real thing it is just I like the freedom of no payments.
I am a retired college prof... and, since 8/04, a very happy new '05 Liberty Sport (2WD 3.7L) owner. I have owned nine Alfa Romeo's (... including one new!), three turbo-ed MOPAR's (all bought new), my twelve+ year old '93 Dakota (bought new), and a new '70 Audi 100LS. They don't compare... the Liberty, at 4.8k miles, is great - easily the best! Okay, the mileage stinks... 18.6mpg average over the first 4.5k miles, including trips and break-in. My second favorite was my bought off the showroom floor '90 Shadow ES Turbo 5sp, sold in September with ~170k miles.
One caveat re me and the Liberty... my wife keeps pointing out other Liberty's on the road - and the all-too-common female drivers. Yeah, others have told me it's a 'girlie-car'... I don't care... I like it! Oddly, she picked up her ordered '05 SRT-4 Friday... generated by a D-C 'buy-back' of her '03 SXT. The SRT-4 is nice - I'll keep the Liberty!

I'm about to buy a Patriot Blue Jeep Liberty Limited for my wife for Christmas, it is totally loaded including the sunroof. I have heard alot of good things about it. One of my coworkers bought one about a year ago and other than the rear brakes squealing on him ( 4 wheel discs ) and city gas mileage ( about 17 mpgs ) he has raved about it. I will be getting a smoking sweet deal from the dealer I bought my truck from...it helps that the sales manager's wife works with my wife...lol and I didn't even know that when I bought my truck from that dealer.
Go for it! Everybody I know who owns a KJ loves it and says as much quite often. My brother-in-law bought one a while back and has put a ton of miles on it without any problems (try to convince him that it is a "girlie car"!
).
My personal preference is a Grand Cherokee (more room and a V-8), but the Liberty has evolved into one of the better 4WD vehicles out there. Some of the self-proclaimed solid-axle peeps claim that the Liberty is not very capable off-road, but I have seen some that do exceptionally well.
Glad to see that you have a nearby dealer that provides good service and deals. I travel 95 miles away to a dealership (Patrick Jeep - Rochester, NY) that is excellent; the local Jeep dealers have messed up my Jeeps a few times in the past, so I found a better place to deal. The extra distance traveled is worthwhile.
