Hand throttle on gearshift ???
Years ago when auto trans was not popular with hardcore off roaders, I saw a jeep with a hand throttle on the gearshifter. When I asked about this he said it was so he could work the brake & clutch w/his feet and the gas w/his hand in off road situations. It worked both ways either w/your foot or hand. I want to do this with our new PowerWagon when we get it. Has anyone done this ???
My dad has one made out of a bicycle gear shift lever and cable. It's pretty simple. You just need a cable run through the firewall that will pull the throttle open. It's easy to fab up. I can probably post up some pictures of both ends if you want. You can also buy kits online but it's easy enough to do yourself.
Right, but you could defintely rig up a throtel cable to the actuator on the throttle body or even just a cable from your hand throttle to the back side of the gas pedal? plenty of options abound.
check around the shops that deal with handicapped vehicles conversions.many of them have hand throttles, or you can talk to them about how they work.
