Default questions, jeep comander.

I'm toying with the idea of trading my 06 2500 Ram reg cab hemi on a 06 jeep comander with the hemi.

Is the comander frame a 1500 dodge Ram frame, or uni body and what is realistic mpg highway on a comander? I allready knew my 2500 is better with high way mpg, but people utility is now taking over from cargo utility, a 1500 Ram is not a option due to the short box, were as a comander has the short box, but its coverd, as long as thier a hitch, I'm good to go.

as for the automatic in the comander, is it safe to asume its the same as a 1500 Ram?
and what are known issues on this discountinued name plate?

I like the interior space, utility, but I like the 6speed manual behind the hemi.

Frame is based on the uni body design of the Grand Cherokee. Fuel economy is listed at 16 highway with Hemi engine option.

Same 545rfe transmission in Hemi equipped models as Ram 1500 and Grand Cherokee's equipped with V8s.

Towing capacity is rated at 7200 lbs.

While this vehicle is a huge bust for Jeep, most people who do own one, love it.
Common problems are HVAC, poor quality window motors, cheap electronics. But the power train is very solid...

If it were me, I would get a Quad Cab Ram. Maybe even a Durango....Not a fan of the Commander

I'm not a fan of a quad cab Ram, esp the automatic, but its all the same dna in the power trian, I'm seeing a lot of 2010 3.7 v/6 Commanders, yikes.

To get a topper on a 1500 ram, or have front to back cargo access is more apealing to me.

maybe keeping my truck and finding a used Grand cheriokie may make more sense, I can live with with a I6 or 4.7 V/8, even with a automatic.

The 3.7L is gutless, as it is, in the Liberty. I can only imagine how bad it would be in a Commander 4X4. My in-laws bought a 2010 Commander Sport 4X4, with the 5.7L, a few months ago. It sure is nice. What a ROCKET with the Hemi!

I like your second idear of a used Grand Cherokee. I've had four (three were the ex's daily drivers). I love 'em. Shame they went to IFS in '05 though.

Yeah, and not only I.F.S., on the 2011, but I.R.S. as well. Thank you Jeep (Chrysler) for ruining a good vehicle!
