Im new here, this only my 2nd Dodge Ive owned. I recently purchased an 87 Aries SE coupe, from the original owner, it has 82k original miles, it came with the window sticker and dealer bill of sale from 87.The entire car is mint it spent its whole life in a garage.I was told that these are considered rare, is this true? If it is how rare is it, just how many were made in 87?

 

My mistake I noticed its an LE not an SE.

Hey everyone, I just got back from a big car show in my area. While I was there I met an automotive historian who had access to the info I needed. It turns out this car IS RARE!! In 87 there were 45,000 and change sedans built, 36,000 and change wagons and only 7,500 coupes! My next quest is to find out how many survivors exsist. Any ideas on where I could start looking?

 

7500 is not really rare but there good chance that not many left.

For example from what I've own.
My 85 shelby charger in orignal paint was 1 of 3846. Now I know There one less than the 3846 since I had own 2 85s.
my 86 shelby charger in orignal paint was 1 of 3495
my 87 which I wish I could save was 1 of 1011 but that was total of the year for SC with it orignal paint it was 1 of 566.

 

I did forget to say that there were also only 205 non LE coupes built. These were the basic coupes.

 

You got me beat in not only in rarity but in horsepower too!

 

I got quite abit into my current 85 charger.

Sweet! How can I get a little giddy-up out of my Aries? I dont know what 4 is in it. Were they stillusing Mitsubishi 4s in in 87?

 

I don't know if they where still using the mitsubishi yet or not. But Mine got a 2.2 turbo and for this year to get it driving again it going to get a 2.5 bottom end until my other 2.2 is down getting built.

For your aries you can do a turbo motor swap and get a crap load more power out of it.
