Mefa squirt would nice to but you still need to lower the fuel pressure. fwdperformance.com has them around 129 for an accufab that made for the rail and can be adjusted down to 0 psi. Once you get one of those find out the pressure the escort was using and set the pressure a little higher than that for more displacement of your motor. If you don't have any other gauges just pull the plugs to see what the mix is like.

so what do you think if i get an escort regulator and mod it to fit on my car do you think that would be enough for mine? then if that dont work ill get the adjustable one, but are you sure that my fuel pressure is too high and thats why its running rich?

If you can get the escort one to work go for it but then you might be lean. The way injectors work is off pressure and length of pulse. If the escort say runs at 30 psi and the turbo reg on the your car is 45. So if this is the case your getting 50% more fuel that the escort used.

so fuel pressure is just like your air/fuel screw on an old carb then right? so it would only make sence to buy an adjustable one for it, thanks for your help ill have to get to ordering one of them here real soon then

will replacing the regulator also get rid of the miss when the car is running at a steady position on the throttle?? this is another issue, and you seem to know alot about these cars so i was wondering; what else could i do to the engine to beef it up a bit, and what do you know about making it a 16v hybrid, as far as cam timing and something about the oil port or something was mentioned...

thanks

what do you know about making it a 16v hybrid
Chrysler had6 versions of the 2.2 assembly.

The first were the carbureted 2.2

Then came the TBI's, which are pretty much identical except for manifolds (and distributor, IIRC).

Turbo I is a non-intercooled engine

Turbo II is basically a Turbo I with an intercooler. Turbo II did have two different intake manifolds, though. A one piece and a much taller two piece.

Turbo VI is essentially a Turbo II, with the exception of the turbo cold side and the PCM (one extra connector on the harness, too, for the VNT turbo).

The Turbo I, II and VI are all the same Long block.

Some recent looking has revealed to me that all the 2.2 SOHC engines have the same manifold mounting, despite the very different manifolds.

Turbo III is the oddball. The DOHC 16V head was designed by Lotus, and Mazerati manufactured the engines for Chrysler. AFAIK, nothing is easily interchangeable between the Turbo III and all the other 2.2's.

Basically, a 16v hybrid would be major and expensive project. And even if you could make the Turbo III head work, last time I checked (about 6 years ago) bare heads (no valves, springs or cams) were $4,200.

If you want a twin cam 16V engine, the newer 2.4l DOHC is probably your best bet. Still a big project, though. I know another member here has plopped one in his Daytona.

The best way to make your car MPFI would've been to get all the goodies off a Turbo I or II car (including wiring harness and PCM) and bolt them on.

Edited for spelling errors

He talking about putting the head of a 2.0 or 2.4 on his 2.2/2.5 block which has been the new thing to do these days. I haven't tried this setup myself but I've have looked into it.

Well I have had the intake, fuel pump, 2 sets of injectors, and AFPR.... I recently got a wiring harness off of a 89 turbo lebaron, the dist. and ECM.... Now what i wanted to know is since the harness i got is kinda a hack job and is torn apart... they cut the wiring that ran into the cab of the car for what ever wires it needed, and some other wiring for lighting and such.... Well my real question is: Is there some way i could just splice the wiring connectors off the MPI harness keeping a couple wires for the extra injectors, and distributor, and put it onto the TBI harness and make it work correctly? the car its going on is a 90 shadow TBI and since the parts i got are a hack job I'm handy with wiring so i wanted to know if this is feasable or should i go get another complete harness? I think that covers that issue...
