Your bet on the tranny is most likely incorrect. It stalls under load which is most likely a vacuum line.
If it idles, it will run at higher RPM. Disconnect a main vac line from your car to see the affects of what not having vacumn will do.

The trans isn't going to cause it to stall buddy. If anything, it will just slip. I'm telling you. It's most likely the vacuum lines. He may have a few bad valves too. That's why we recommended he replace all hoses, valves, and elbows.

Blah. I'm worried. I just talked to him - he says that all the hoses and such are fine. He noted, however, that the engine seems to be misfiring a little bit, and that he can do a tuneup to fix this.

Cost so far: $120

Does that sound about right?

What else could it be? I'm getting worried about the costs that may come up once he finds more.

$120 for what?- I knew it wasnt the lines, haha

Wires, plugs, and rotor should be no more than $60 in parts, + time unless hes using Magnecores or something.

Check your timing too. Don't worry, it's NOT your tranny.

Shouldnt be anymore than about 40 bux for decent plugs, wires, cap/rotar. Unless you run some super expensive plugs.

He said "I dunno yet, but between 100 and 120" - and that's for a tuneup.

He's still not too sure what's wrong with it.. as a matter of fact, he said one of his mechs was driving it as we were on the phone.

I guess I'll have more (and hopefully good) news in the morning!

How exciting. They did a tune-up on it - it still stalls. They are currently looking into the electrical stuff... says a relay may be dead.

I am going to be pissed off about having to pay for a full tune-up when a $3 relay was at fault.

Heh, what an interesting turn of events.

I just talked to him - he says that the stalling has been taken care of.

What was it?
"Where do you usually get your gas from?"
Kroger's
"Don't go there again.. ever."

According to my mechanic, six months worth of Kroger's gas f*cked my car in the butt. He says that the fuel filter was awful, and that this was causing my issue. There were some other problems as well - namely tires and such - but none of that had anything to do with my stalling.

I'm picking up the car at 10AM tomorrow. News then. He says it 'feels way different' now.
