Default 1985 Dodge aries Won't spark

it's a 2.2L fuel injection. I recently got it off a friend and it ran rough for about 3 days before stalling and dying on me. it sat for about 5 months during winter. I went to go to work in the early morning and it only made it down my street before it died, started back up for about 3 seconds and then died for good.

the distributor was replaced, the coils brand new. I get spark from the coil, I dont get spark going from the distributor into the engine itself though. I've replaced the plugs and halls effect pickup. The computer reads no errors.

I'm just confused and wondered if anyone had any ideas of what my next move should be.

it has about 91000km on it.

Did you change the cap and rotor or did you reuse the old one on the new distributor. Also check to see if the connections to the distributor and coil are tight.

yeah new cap and rotor as well. the connections are tight. I mean this thing was also running for 3 days. I replaced the halls effect pickup because the wire looked bumpy. I really thought that was going to fix it but no luck there either. It can't be the spark control computer though can it? I mean its sending spark to coil atleast when i turn the ignition over. all the electrical wires I can see, all look fine. my dads telling me to rip out the computer but thats pricey and might not even be the problem

It may be the computer, Ks were known for them going bad. Another thing you may want to check is the ground on the distributor. If you see any rust or corrosion at the coil clean it up, also check all your engine grounds that attach to the body.

Not necessarily if you have a little mom and pop junk yard ( the ones that are out of the way and dont crush many cars) near you they may be a good spot to start looking, I had the # for a guy in Vermont who offered me a box of them approx 20 or so for 100 bucks. I went to look for it last year for another member who was having a similar problem. If your from NY I can tell you of about 3 of these small junk yards one of which I know has 3 Ks in it.

the trick when you go to the Jyard is to grab as many hall effects as possible. For some reason no one can make a decent one so you are almost just as likely to get a bad one as you would to get a used one.
