Default bad wastegate?

what are the symptoms of a bad external wastegate? i got the turbonetics evolution and no matter what i do i cant get past 14pnds i disconected the vac hose from turbo to w/g and only boosts 10,11psi's because of the w/g spring, plug the hose back up and i get 14pnds cant go any higher, already did boost leak test and tried anotger boost controller.. so how i know when my wastegate is somewhat stuck open??[/align]

From what I've read on this site especially comming from PSIchick, if you cant boost past what your spring is rated for, then its probably a bad wastegate. For example, the stock wastegate on our cars have a 7lb spring, so if you cant boost past 7psi you might consider getting a replacement. Dont take this as the gospel though, cause I'm still learning.

especially if you have the blue plate installed, if its not perfectly set on there right, its prone to be quite leaky

looks like you could ajust w.g. a half turn at a time, this should let your boost go a little higher, plus it should spool up faster from idle.this is what i did with mine and it did help spool up and boost pressure. half turn plenty at a time, because you can get a big boost spike.
