And the dealer said......
Took the SRT-4 in to get the sensor re-installed on the IC hose. Nothing was said about the mods by the service writer or the mechanic and I talked to both of them personally, at length. There IS a problem however......the parts needed have to be ordered and won't be in for 7-8 days. Normally they get them in 2-3 days from Florida, but right now things are so screwed up there that they had to order them from Detroit.
The kicker is they also advised that I not drive the car, so I left it sitting on the dealer's lot....I miss it already!!!!
I did have one piece of luck, I bought the special new car warranty that provides for 5 days of a rental car if the new car is kept for repairs. Whew!! I may have to pay for a rental for 2-3 days, but it beats 8 days.....

True, the parts they need are a rubber grommet and a small hose. The sensor itself is still attached by it's wire. I'm glad I didn't drive it more than I did after it popped off!!!
I don't know exactly why they didn't want me to drive it, it was down on power of course, but otherwise seemed to run OK. No lights came on and the gauges were OK, but I never checked if for codes. Maybe they're just being over-careful since I bought the extended warranty as well!!!!!!![sm=smiley23.gif]
I was going to put some duct tape over the hole if I had to wait for parts, but it's too late for that now.....no more taking sensors "for granted" from me!!
