I know this is probably done a million times but I'm curious. I'm coming from the v8 world were i built a Kenne Bell supercharged 347 Stroker in my 92lx mustang. Tuned at 780rwhp 802rwtq(110 octane and aggressive tune 18psi). To my question now. What makes these amazing little cars quick. I know turbo swap, exhaust, intake, tuning but what is best-noticable difference. On a stock 05 srt4 what is the boost stock with? Can you adjust it higher completly stock? Any little quirks about these cars would help! I ask these because my car is not unstreetable, atleast daily. So I decided i will need a new daily driver that i can toy around with and i really like the stock hp/tq/price on these.
what's the budget? around 14-17 psi is pretty normal for boost... depends on weather though
I put a Stage 2 kit on my car (with a bunch of other goodies) and that really woke it up ;-) not life changing, but it can get you in trouble... hehehe...
it all depends on what you were trying to do and how much you want to spend.

My budget is endless. My goal is about 500hp. I have a good job and can support my habits. What kind of exhaust sounds good, I don't want something that get high pitch, the lower the rumble the better. i keep reading to do a bov swap, what is involved? I have only worked on twin screw style superchargers, turbos are still new to me. How much boost can i run completly stock and not have to worry about busting any gaskets etc. Which bov/wastegate combo should i use? I'm an open book, im still searching random things i think of in my head but nay opinions/advice would be great.
Yeah Im lookin to get another acr and stage2 it without toys and get a nice borla mopar exhaust . I would Get a turboback or mopar borla for your exhaust. Also injen or aem is nice for an intake and I had a mopar bov on my acr and for the wga its been so long since I had my acr I cant remember . If you want a 500 hp srt4 your going to have to get a big turbo kit like a 50 trim or 60 trim wiht other mods to support it . Go over to srt forums they have some wicked 500 hp srt4s over there. Good luck at whatever you do.
bumping boost is more of a concern for fuel delivery... I don't have some magic number... but... the more air you want in there, the more fuel you need to give the car... you probably already knew that working with superchargers... but... a kind reminder never hurt... so... on a stock system - 17 psi or around that... I forget the exact number (17-18 sounds right to me... but...)...
you really need to speak with MCHAT or PSI CHICK... they have some pretty sick machines and have gone through a lot of trouble and parts... I am merely a lowly bolt-on guy...
just to clarify... you want a 500hp daily driven SRT?

Well I will have the car tuned so I can adjust boost easily so i can turn down the boost/hp. My mustang is set for 110octane and theres no way in the world i could drive that 40miles to work everyday when i gets about 4mpg. I have driven a 800hp car on the street, im sure i can handle 500.
Edit- Also the car is set for the track, 90/10 suspension, full spool, 3 speed power glide with 4.56 gears, its not street friendly at all.
Check out Maxxfab.com. They make some good exhausts with mufflers that give a lower tone. As far as boost goes, on the stock fuel system 17-18psi is about the limits. You'll wanna upgrade your wastegate actuator and pair it with a good boost controller to achieve those numbers. Id also recommend upgrading the ecu to a stage 1 or 2 especially on an 05'. They tend to throw alot of engine check codes versus the other years when you start upgrading. I just installed a stage 1 this weekend and you can definitely tell a difference. As far as the Blow off valve, you will need to get the bov and either equip it with an adaptor or replace your cold side intercooler pipe all together (recommended) with one designed to suit your bov of choice. You could always get the mopar bov, but they arent recommended for application above 18psi, so in your case fork out the extra dough and get something like an hks super sequential or a greddy type rs. I've heard nothing but good things about those too. But yeah definitely chat with PSI Chick if you get the chance. Shes extremely knowledgeable and always willing to lend a helping hand. Other than that have fun with your car. These little machines are a blast!

Eric, a little off topic... but... is your LX a notch back? I mean, I think those are some of the ugliest mustangs ever (next to the Mustang II from the late 70's...)... anyway... those make for some mean drag cars... if I were to build a track only stang, that's probably where I'd start... do you have any pic's of it?? I'm a mustang fan trapped in a Neon-owners body... ha-ha...

anyway, to start to answer some of your questions.......
stock fuel is only good until 15-16psi at redline, if you want more, you need more fuel. the basics here are the same as with a s/c, fuel, tuning, and more fuel lol.
500hp is a nice number, but one thing to remember is that you're pushing the limits of the block with that number. there are ways around it, but you're still going to be borderline. if you want to build the motor then that's a different story, but for a daily driven car not sure if you want to do that. 400-450 is a more obtainable (easily actually) number that is safer for the stock block.
basics to be getting into the 400+ range......
3" exhaust, throttle body, fmic, big turbo, fuel (pump, injectors, return line w/fpr, and a fuel controller), water injection, mbc/ebc. some other things to think about getting......hard pipes w/bov, intake (not really necessary, but frees up a ton of room so is worth it just for that), stage 1 ecu, cams, pnp head, and most of the other basic bolt ons that you're used to.
the best way i've found is to start with all the supporting mods and then once they're in and done, throw in a turbo and tune it.which turbo you get is obviously up to you, each one has its benefits and downfalls, more so than s/c's do as you have to consider spool time (read: lag). check out agpturbo.com for some good choices on turbo upgrades and to give you an idea of what's out there. there are other options as well other than agp, but it's a very good place to start to get the basics of each turbo and it's potential and limits.
on a side note, why 500hp? i'm sure i don't have to point out the obvious that 500hp in a fwd car is not like 500hp in a mustang (belive me, i found that out the hard way lol). what is your goal really with the car? is it to be able to be a heavy hitter on the street? run a 10s pass? that will really help as to determining what mods are in your best interest and what set up will work best for you.
welcome to the board and have fun with her! these cars are surprisingly fun to drive, even coming from a high hp rear wheel drive car
