SRT-4 Advice for Newbie
Some facts
1. Sad to say, the 05s biggest difference, besides the "Great Pumpkin " option is that the they only carry a 3/36 warranty for the whole car, powertrain included.
2. As far as emmisions inspection, most states have what's called I/M, where any newer vehicle only gets a code check, if there are no codes (some states break it down to emmision related codes, some say ANY codes, this becomes inportant later), it passes. We recently had an owner pass CA tailpipe and visual with Stage 2 installed
Nice to have a really factory looking upgrade. I have had to point out my Stage 2 install, it's VERY stock looking.
3. Lots of options, best way to decide is your goals for the car. An 11 second pavement ripper (LS1 killer) A solid 12 second car (plays well with LS1s, kills all Mustangs except 03 or better Cobras), or a mid to low 13 second machine (Mach 1 stangs and GTOs, older Vettes) Once you decide where in the auto world you want to play, then your best options become more clear.

If they keep in the trend of changing tire brands you may have a different tire on the '05's to match the new ugly orange. If you get Stage 2 get it with the toys and the Mopar/Borla exhaust to get the full benefit. The Mopar parts are about the best your gonna find, but there are some things they just don't make like a CAI.

You can also pick up this months copy of sport compact car. They put the stage 2 on there project srt-4. It's pretty good and tells you how to do it and what to look for. In that issue they even have the guy who wrote the directions and tuned the srt-4 to it's current potential. It's a good issue to get.

Hey thanks for all the info,
i picked up the SCC magazine last week for the SRT-4 article. i was impressed with the amount of detail and how easy mopar has made it to upgrade you SRT-4. I believe the best quality about this car is how easy it is to keep it looking stock yet punish anyone that thinks they are only dealing with a "neon".
My goal for an as far as upgrades go.... be able to beat my neighbors 04' SVT Mustang without pouring in the amount of money it would cost to buy one.
Am i right in assuming that with the Stage 2/3 upgrades comes upgrades in clutch, etc...

Yeah, it's not just Stage 2, though. All "performance parts" sold by Mopar are sold "as is" with no warranty whatsoever. Regular Mopar parts still carry their regular warranty, though. Stage 1 is the same way, I'm hoping a PCM by itself is not going to be prone to break down. So far, no problems....
no, they only come w/ the components specified in the Mopar Street Essentials (http://mopar.com/street/catalogs.htm) catalog or Mopar's website (http://mopar.com/street/tech.htm). the axles on the '04 are already upgraded, though (a benefit of dodge's support of the srt-4 scca rally car that kept breaking the '03's axles), and the clutch is supposedly good to 300 hp or so. everything else is up to you.
