Any experiences with a WRX?
Well dodge is buying my truck back due to an issue that can not be fixed and I will be purchasing a WRX non STI. I was wondering if any of you have had run ins with these cars when you were stock and how bad you beat them. I know WRX's run loooow 14's out of the box and I have seen some timeslips on here of srt4's in the high 13's so I was just wondering how close most of you have been if you ran any. I would get an srt4 BUT I will not buy a performance vehicle used as I have had friends with srt4's and I see how they get driven and I can not stand the caliber so I am leaving dodge. Thank you for any info.
stock for stock, a new STI would take the SRT from a dig. however, the regular WRX will lose out to the SRT (considering the srt driver can actually launch it). there if you search im sure you can find a cared for SRT4. but in no way is the WRX isnt a bad car at all. just a hair more expensive. the AWD is the only real pro i see over the SRT imo.
i should also add, the WRX would most likely have the upper hand at an autocross type event.

Yeah I know they are amazing for handling. My plan is once the warranty is gone or I'm making enough money to not care is to get a built tranny ($3500) and then go cobb stage2 (Roughly $1000) and that will make my tranny way reliable for the power and I will be as fast or a tad faster than a stock STI. The STI is roughly $10,000 more so for 5-6K I will have a faster car that is still getting better insurance rates.
I know for the money I can find a faster car but mainly I just want a nice quick daily driver that is not bad on gas (I'm coming from a ram)Off the get go I just plan to get a turbo heat shield, some nice wheels, cat back and tint so it won't contend with an SRT4 but it will be nice.
I just see SRT4's ALL over around here so I was wondering how I would fare to a stock one. Most probably are not stock but when I get destroyed I'll just say lets go to the mountains
haha.

I HAVE RACED A COUPLE OF WRX'S WHEN IVE BEEN STOCK. ONE WAS FROM 30 MPH AND I PULLED ABOUT 10 CARS AHEAD BY 110. THE OTHER WAS COMING OUT OF A CORNER AND HE GOT A LITTLE JUMP BECAUSE OF THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE BUT AS SOON AS WE GOT GOING STRAIGHT I PUT ABOUT 5 CARS ON HIM
Stock for stock its a drivers race. If you could get a good driver in a srt-4 it would win, but seeing that most people cant launch one worth **** and think its cool spinning through third gear, its too close to call.
the only problem i know the car to have is a weak clutch, my friend just had to replace his after 20k and the dealer would not waranty it due to the pressure plate being broke. alot of torque in that car, and my 04 stock against his from a dig is a drivers race but from a roll hands down the SRT

Yeah I know just about anything will beat a WRX from a roll haha. I hear that they have weak 2nd and 3rd gears as well so I will get a whole 1-5 gear set and a good clutch when I build the tranny. I also know that subaru does not like to do warranty work but if they deny me for something like that I will simply get a lawyer. Thanks for the replies, I figured they would be in the same ball park but just wasn't sure.so basically, I get a stock srt4 from a dig and they can't drive and spin the crap out of it and I could win.
well for all you street racers yeah in the streets from a dig the STi will own you.Hownever at the track its a whole diff. deal.I raced one at the track, the guy had a reflash and exhaust.Hi's best run that night was a 13.7 While mine was a 13.5 We actually got to race and my car died at launch(launched at very low rpms)he took off and got a good head start while I pinned my tires during 1st and 2nd.We both got a 14.1 at the end
I have never had a WRX or STI own me. granted I have never raced an STI stock sure they get the launch but they can only keep up until 2nd. Now we all know there are exceptions. STI or WRX's can be built to reach 800 to 900 crank HP but that is rare since parts cost an arm and a leg for them. My opinion they are good looking cars with potential buta properly built SRT can keep up with the WRX or STI for that matter. Remember guys the SRT-4 has just set the WORLD LAND SPEED RECORD for a 4 cylinder motor!!!
