i wanna go fast
whats up?! im kinda new to this forum, but ive been building cars for a while. ive just never built an srt4. i have a question to anyone who knows........is the 2.4 stratus block the same as the 2.4 srt? i kno that the bottom end(pistons, crank, rods) will all have to be changed. i really need to know if the oiling points and all of the water jackets are the same, if the stratus motor will bolt up to the srt neon trany, and if all the accessories like ac andalternator and all will work off of my 2001 neon.
thanks to all!

Your best be is to sell your current car /cars save up some more money and put down money on a srt4. Honestly you should just get one either a 2004 or 2005. Because for the money that youll be spending to convert this or convert that it honestly wont feel or handle or be as nearly reliable as the real thing. And i know your not the type that will settle for a substatute. Trust me save up and get an srt4 youll thank me later. If you wanna go faster than that just buy and srt4 and go for some mopar upgrades. Im gettin my stage 2 within a couple of weeks
srt4sparks,
I deffinetly kno where you are commin from saying that i should just sell the car i have and by an srt4, but the thing is i want to build it, i already have a race car that runs deep 11's so i guess it is not just goin faster or what ever i just want to kno if i will be able to use a stratus assembly or if i am better off buying a wrecked srt4 and tranfering everything over.( i kno this is of course better but i want to kno about the stratus motor) I do kno a few things like the cv axles on the srt and the regular neon or the same length............... i just think it will be fun yet tough............but maybe im out of my legue................but it is not about the money or the parts they are all in reach.

the srt motor is a mexican stratus motor. the oil points and all that *should* be the same, i honestly can't say completly for sure as i have not heard of anyone trying to use a stratus motor for a swap. the amount that it would cost for you to build that motor it would probably be cheaper to just get a used srt motor out of a wreck. i've seen rear end hits go for as cheap as 2k for the whole car so you can get a nice convesion out of that.
if you want more specific details about doing the swap that you're looking at i suggest contacting jay@n2mb and asking him, he just did a srt swap into a second gen about a month ago so he can tell you what you need to change in terms of accessories or anything like that.

well its funny cause i was going to do the modd to my 2001 2.4lstratus and did a lot of looking up and found out that it is the same block and there are some diffrences from the srt and strat. for example the oil pans have the same bolt pattern but the srt has the oil filter on the pan and the strat has it on the block itself and alternators are in different locations. to get a better idea of what im talking about ill reply later and tell you where you can see some pics that this guy did on his 1st gen neon using a stratus motor. i decided to pay off my stratus and wait to trade it in and use it as down payment on my srt. they gave me 4k for it.

the srt-4 tranny is specific to the car. it's actually a european box truck tranny with some upgraded internals.
