Default Pressure Pipe

has anybody else replaced the stock pressure pipe and blow off valve? I just dd and I am going through everything that I can totry and figure out why when I went out to test drive it, the boost, which is normally 14 is about 8 and the vacuum is about 14 instead of 18. If anybody else has had a problem like this or has any ideas, please let me know.

yup.... but i didnt buy the pressure pipe. i cut the original pipe and installed the adapter for the greddy type s. after 2 hours of driving it the clamps that were holding it broke and the boost was about 5psi. all i had to do was replace those clamps and it worked like new. this was about a year ago and about 15,000 miles ago. what kind of bov did u purchased??? cause greddy type s sounds great i luv it. its not that typical sshhh its more like a ptshhhhh.[sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif] ohh and about the vacum. i dont know i didn't get a chance to check cause as soon as i noticed the boost lost i went stray home and fixed it. im planning on getting the pressure pipe later on. but i dont have a cai so u can't even see it. good luck and if its not the clamps check for a leak, some bov are known for the leak problems.

the pipe and the bov are turbonetics, the raptor. It is the one that they have on modernperformance. I checked the clamps theyare all fine, they are good quality clamps. Yeah, mine is more of a flutter than either of those.

Did you install a Block off Plate and remove and cap off the pink line for the stock surge valve? I noticed some people who install aftermarket BOV's did not do this. I would re-check all of the lines. Where did you run the line from to the Turbonetics BOV.

Thanks,
Steve

Yep, you have to remember to install the block off plate and plug the line when using an aftermarket BOV. I have a nice pressure pipe, but I still have yet to install it. I had to find a plug for the BOV hole in it since I will still be using my Mopar BOV.

check, recheck, and then replace the clamps. they're too big and can't hold pressure. we've gone through this on two differnt cars around here with that upp/bov. the clamps that they give you are one size too large to give a proper fitment on the pipe. either call up modern and ask for new clamps or go get some t clamps in the next size down.

Is the problem with the clamps specificlly for this kit psichick? I thought that they looked a littlebig but it seemed like thay tightened down alright. As far as plugging the stock bov, what excatly am I supposed to plug? I plugged the place where the pink wire went into the stock bov. Is that what you are talking about? What does the block off plate do for me and where can I get one? Thanks guys.

ok well if you didn't put on a block off plate then that's your main problem right there. you can get it from turboneonstore.com for like $12 shipped. it's a piece of metal and a gasket that replaces the stock surge valve. right now, you've basically got 2 bov's going off which is why your boost is a little weird. the bop will stop this. also the pink line itself needs to be capped, not just where it connected to the surge valve. i found it best to actually remove the line itself and cap it at the solenoid, which is located right near your air box/battery.

the problem with the clamps being too big is just with this kit. if you look at the clamps when they are tightened down, they are at the smallest possible setting, and it's really still a little big. although this is an issue with this pipe in particular, all pipes are prone to the clamps loosening and thus the clamps go bad from tightening (many pipes use regular caterpillar clamps, which will go bad over time and repeated use). i have the exhaust depot kit, and although the clamps are the correct size, they need to be replaced already due to them wearing out because of tightening.

it's a good idea for anyone that is running aftermarket pressure pipes to replace them with more reliable t clamps, it will just make your life easier in the long run.

Ok, I get the block of plate thing and am already ordering one, but I am still a little confused about the pink line. The actual line needs to be capped off? As far as I could tell, from the one set of instructions that I found, I needed to hook up the pink wire to the new bov. That is what I did and it works. Was there something that I did wrong? When I got the kit from Modern Performance, there were no instrutctions so I was kind of on my own.

the pink line is no longer used when you use an aftermarket bov. rip it out if you want, it doesn't do anything now. what you need to do is t into the vacuum lines close to where you install the bov. this will be the new vacuum source instead of the pink line.

below is a link to a picture of the raptor bov installed on a car. the bov itself is actually installed upside down, so don't pay attention to that (the hole needs to be facing down, not up), but the pipe and lines are correct.

Raptor

here's one of the vacuum line:

i uploaded a pic of the set up that i have, so you can take a look at that too. the only lines that are connected to the bov is the black vacuum source, the red line, and the sensor.
