Launch off around 2000-2200 rpms
Shift @ 4000 to 2nd gear
Then go for broke... @ 5500-5700 all the way home

Stay focused. Don't worry about everybody else, if this is your first time, they'll realize that. If they're running faster times, (and they will be) it's because they've had plenty of practice. That's what you need, and there's only one way to get it....

hey roach i find launching at anything 2000+ leaves me burning first... but the shifting at 4k in 1st is a good idea. and i usally shift at 5800 in other gears.

don't launch below 2k- roach is right- just feather the clutch a little off the line- i have about 20 runs at the track on mine now and it works pretty well (i haven't gotten to try w/ the motor mounts yet- i'm hoping i can run a higher rpm launch, but we're pretty much done for the season up here, and i'm going to be in the middle east until christmas- guess i'll have to wait until next spring!)

Glad i can help. Dont on launch in or around 2500rpm; you get the serious wheel hop.
Barney has more runs than i do... he's the back-up!

If you DO get wheelhop, back off the throttle some, DO NOT try to "drive through it". Thisd can lead to snapped axles (less likely on an 04), broken motor mounts, and in severe cases, dorked up oil pans. If you dont have radical hop, it's not an issue, so don't get freaked, if it starts, back off, then get back on it softer.
