i have an 03 srt4 and i've been having problems with my synchros. has anybody had the same problem, and if so how did u fix it? thanxs[sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]

 

Isn't it still under warranty?

 

sure it's under warranty, but dodge ain't gonna fix it. that's been my problem for about a year now, and they won't do a damn thing about it. why? because they no longer make 03 trannys, which means that an 04 tranny would have to be installed, with the lsd, and we all know dodge isn't going to give free upgrades. some dealerships have tried just installing new synchros, and the trannys are busted again in only a few weeks (happend to a guy i know). the only real fix is a new tranny, and that just isnt' going to happen.

look for a tranny out of a wrecked 04 and replace yours, that's my plan....

 

that's ridiculous- i know you've been around the block on that one w/ multiple dealers, amy, but that's crap (not you, i mean the fact that they won't fix it for you). if i had the problem i'd try all the dealers in my area, just to make sure- that's my advice to racingchix, anyway. she's probably right, but that's a big enough problem that i'd fight pretty hard in my own area to get it taken care of.
now, having said that, if you've put in an aftermarket clutch, made power mods, etc- they're probably going to laugh at you, b/c they can easily connect the failure to the mods, which i think is what happened to psichick, since she's mentioned it before.

 

If need be, just trash the tranny good by abusing the crap out of it.

 

If you haven't did anything to the car call the dodge home office and tell them your problem they will make the dealership replace it. If dodge nolonger make's the none lsd tranny they should have to eat the cost sence it's still under warranty. It's not are fault they need to have some of their engineer's [sm=icon_beat.gif] like a redheaded stepp child.

 

i've tried all of the above. called dcx, and they said that they couldn't do anything about it if the dealership wouldn't replace it, and that i should try another dealership. they told me that they have no control over what gets covered under warranty by a dealership, and they can't force a dealership to fix something. funny how they don't have the power to get something fixed under warranty, but have the power to void your warranty....just goes to show where the priorities are. i tried multiple dealerships after that phone call and they all told me that they wouldn't fix it, none directly said it was because of my mods, but they made it clear that nothing was going to be done. they wouldn't even fix it back when i was stock, now i have no clue.

and the idea about trashing the tranny and having them fix it, a friend of mine kinda did that. not really on purpose, but his tranny just went to crap one day, and he knew that it was going to happen, it had been going downhill for a while. so he took it to the dealer, and $1400 later he had his tranny fixed. they denied him warranty because they said that he abused it. according to them these trannys are bulletproof, and there's no way that the damage would have been done unless he was beating the crap out of the car. no question, no argument. as soon as they found out what was wrong (fork and synchros gone) they claimed abuse. and they refused to just replace the tranny but would only fix the one he has, even though he was paying for it.

maybe it's just dealerships in new york, but they all suck and won't fix our cars.

 

Honda is really good about that. My car stopped running because of an ECU problem caused by my VTEC Controller. I took it to a few Honda Dealers and they wouldn't fix it. Called the Honda home office and they found a Honda Dealer to look at it. On top of that, they fixed it for free as a warranty issue even though my car was off of warranty for at least 5,000 miles. They are really good about taking care of their customers. Dodge, on the other hand, well i just know how much my dad cringes when he has a problem with one of his Dodge's. He tries to fix it himself before taking it to the dealer.

that sucks bad- did you throw in some bbb complaints on the dealers for good measure?

 

i took my car to the dealer and they did claim that i had abused my car even though my car is still stock. thanxs for the advice though. i'll try more dodge dealerships in my area. but thats really messed up that dodge won't fix their own mistakes.[sm=smiley21.gif]
