Finally got my test drive!
Awesome, thanks 71RoadRunner,so got any tips on how theese bad boys liked to be launched? Mabey I will go to another dealer while I wait to find my srt-4,and practice my launching[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
Ah,you see 71RR you give me a list and you get more questions from me! LOL. How important are theese strut tower braces? I understand the are like sub frame connectors for a unibody car,or fender braces for a uni body car, right? Especially how important is the rear one,it really looks like a waste of trunk space(this is a daily driver). Also What is the importance of the motor mount inserts? And the last, are the booger bushings worth the extra cost?
thanks
thanks
Not a problem, that's what I'm here for.
I have only made a few passes and it will take more time for me to get it down myself. My launching needs work and it would appear that lower tire pressure helps with these stickier than most street tires. Your going to have to feel it out yourself as to how to launch it just right, it's no where near as easy as a RWD.
The strut tower braces are great for cornering, it really does stiffen it up and gives you a more accurate and positive feel as well as letting you throw it through the curves quicker and more positively. The rear brace isn't as important as the front since there is not as much flex or weight being pushed around back there, but it is noticeably different when pushed hard. It definately stiffens and squares it up a bit. The rear brace doesn't take up much space since it's at the top just below the speakers.
The motor mount inserts make a huge difference in every aspect of the car and it's performance. In all honesty they are not even motor mount inserts even though that is what they are called on the SRT-4's, they are actually torque strut inserts. These inserts fill in the gaps in the rubber of the torque struts. These inserts are also quite cheap and will make a very noticable difference, the Prothane race inserts that I have only cost $23.99 for both the upper and lower. I have posted about all of this previously, both the difference between the street and race inserts and how they work, what they do and why you want them. Here is a link to this discussion (Post #8 is my explanation): https://dodgeforum.com/tm.asp?m=60014&mpage=
The booger bushings are urethane replacements for the soft factory rubber bushings on the shifter linkage and they provide a better, more solid and positive shift feel. It'll firm the shifts up nicely and they are fairly inexpensive.

You might kill some time reading all the "test results" on the SRT-4 available on the internet (Go to "Google" and type in "Dodge SRT-4") or just hang around the SRT-4 websites....not to brag, but several SRT-4 owner's have said we are the "friendliest" website with a SRT-4 section they have found.....use caution at srtforums.com, they can be very sarcastic and don't take too kindly to newcomers.
