s1 allows you to tune without throwing overboost codes. when those codes are thrown the ecu pulls timing. you can also then run a catless dp and not throw a code as well. the basic tune in a s1 ecu is much more aggressive than that of s0 when it comes to timing, and as such it's more friendly and helps the car respond better to modifications.

just because you don't "see" a gain doesn't mean that there aren't things going on that you're not aware of.........

A wideband is a gauge that displays your A/F ratios.......you can tune with either, but to tune you need a tuning device such as a DTEC, SAFC ect ect.

Haha... I have a stage 1 and stage 2 pcm. I'm currently tuning with the stage 2. Stage 1 is definitely worth it when it comes to tuning. What we mean by tuning is that u take a fuel computer/piggyback system(hence DTEC, SAFC) and tune the fuel percentage to get more power out of the car. Now with a DTEC or SAFC your going to need something to monitor the changes u make (hence a wideband, scan gauge) for things like timing advance, knock retard and so on so u wont blow ur motor.

So remember when tuning you definitely need a wideband and a scan gauge preferably. Tuning is easy as hell, just time consuming.

for the most part a wideband is enough. once you get into other modifications that have to do with knock retard, injector duty, etc. then the scan gauge is worth it.
