It's his... and if you notice, it's a Stage 2 VF-SC, and he's tweaking it. It's not the turbo system that he indicated in this topic. Strange, I know... but I have no idea what his agenda is.

Max, he came here bragging about beating cars that haven't even been released yet.
He's acting as if the R32 is superior in speed, when in fact it's not.
I do not claim the SRT is superior in any way other speed to money ratio.
Stock to stock, mod to mod, the SRT is faster, plain and simple.

His type is most commonly seen to pop up after losing to an SRT, and talking crud to
make themselves feel better. I do find the below post of yours from the Vortex
(figured I would find you there) interesting, given your comments about the S4.

"Most people don't realize, that while the S4 has turbos, it's very expensive to modify. A chip is one thing, but if you want 400hp, then you will need 2 new turbos, a new clutch, flywheel, Y-pipe, DV's, exhaust, brakes, DTS . . . and the list goes on. That's much more than a few thousand dollars. You will be able to get comparable power for about the same amount of money on both cars.

For the sake of argument, check out http://www.awetuning.com. 400+ hp on an S4 goes for $5-7000. You can get similar power from an R32 for a similar price."

and

"Wrong. The S4 is more expensive to modify. Sure, you'll get more power, but you have to pay $$$$."

So if I can get the same performance from the SRT-4 for less money, that's a good thing, right?

Wow! You dug up an old post! I vaguely remember writing that. Hehe...

To attain ~450hp in the S4 is still way more expensive than in the R32, though. Their RS4 K04 kit is $7000+ or $5100 w/o new exhaust manifolds, and that's just for the turbo kit. Figure in a new exhaust ($700-$1000), new intercoolers ($1300+), new clutch ($800), optional new flywheel ($700), new bypass valves ($150x2), Samco hoses ($440), Drivetrain stabilizer ($350)... you need all these extra components to handle that turbo kit. Add a suspension to control the power ($700-$1800), necessary brake upgrade ($3000).

There are a lot of weak points on the S4... as well as on the R32 if you're running that kind of power. Figure in the cost of labor... ugh... fuggeddaboudit. You have to yank the whole engine just to install the S4's turbos. That's a PITA. You could buy many of the same upgrades for the R32, but I think the R32 in stock form is better sorted than a stock S4 (put aside the fact that one car has factory turbos... I'm talking about overall package). However, it does suck that Euro cars are more expensive to mod, but what can you do?

Also keep in mind that while costs are similar, the S4 already has turbos and it's a butt-load of money. In the R32, you're starting from scratch, so in that sense you're getting more for your money. Those quotes that you found are good, but I was replying to some guy who thought he could spend $2-3k and make a crap-ton of reliable power on his VW.

I do agree with you, though... I never said that it was a bad thing to pay less money for an SRT-4 and make big power. I think that's pretty damn cool. It just annoys me when people throw the cost vs. performance line out there when comparing similarly modified vehicles. To that, my point was it doesn't matter how much it costs... if two cars, one cheaper and one more expensive, make big power, but one guy had to spend a good bit more $$, then you can't really knock him for that. It's their prerogative. In the end, after modding, everyone has a car that's fast as stink. That's what being an enthusiast is all about -- modding your car, no matter what brand, and not caring how much you spend because it's not really about money. We all know that cars are not an investment, but as long as we have fun modding and driving, then it's all good.

what about this turbo r32 i burned a couple of your stage 3 living them in the dust
WTF, how stupid are you? There are no Stage 3 cars around since Stage 3 isn't even available yet and won't be for a while yet.[sm=icon_blah.gif] Sorry, try again ricer.[sm=nothatway.gif][sm=forgetit.gif][sm=icon_beat.gif][sm=shutup.gif][sm=icon_quiet.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif]

BTW, there is quite a big price difference between the two cars stock vs. stock and I'll bet any amount that with the price of a stock R32 used to buy and mod an SRT-4 will beat the **** out of your precious boosted R32.[sm=goodidea.gif][sm=icon_stickpoke.gif][sm=exactly.gif]

71RoadRunner: Unbelievable... there goes the price vs. performance poop again. Cheap power is good, but it doesn't automatically make one a king. It's pointless to compare a person's spending habits -- they'll buy what they like and there's no harm in that.

As a moderator, I figured you would be more sensible than that.

BTW, nice RoadRunner in your Avatar. After watching a few shows on Speed TV that focus on hot rods, I'm diggin' a lot of those classic cars now.

I realize your point Max, and i do agree with the idea that anyone can spend their money however they wish, just as you can build anything to be fast (anything... heck, I read some guy in England, I think it was, put a jet engine on a shopping cart!!!! who wants to race that and lose??? - haha)...

but Roadrunner does make a point, why spend mega green to make something fast when you could spend your money on other things? It really does come down to what you want, and I can see both points... but you do have to admit, in a stock trim, it's hard to beat the performance of one of these "neons" for the price... again, it just boils down to how far you want to go...

read one of the latest hot rod magazines for the "stock looking" full size chevy that runs 10.9's in the quarter... it's all dependent on where you want to go with what you have...

i saw a picture of that jet powered shopping cart, it looks badass. it's a home built jet engine, so i think i'm gonna put one
or two in my SRT., and if each decal gives you 5hp, then i've seen some hippy cars that should blow the doors off an SRT or R32.
