Yeah outta my budget right now too, otherwise I'd hop on it. Stage 1 is definitely on my list. If my stock PCM is crushed....I'm gonna try to get stage 1 out of the deal, it may work it may not...worth a try.

That thing will probably go for $250. Actually if you have an 04, definitely buy an 03 Stage 1. No different between the 2 PCM's but you can at least sell the injectors and get a good amount of money for them. I sold mine on EBay and got $100 for them. So I basically got my PCM for around $125.

The only problem is the vin number is tattoed to the PCM. You cannot change it. Ther may be a skim key program issue too, I'm not sure.

I can get it new for 329.00

RIP, sorry to contradict you, but the VIN and secret key data CAN be changed. I can categorically say this becuase I sold my Stage 1 kit locally and taught my dealer techs (who swore it couldn't be done) how to do it. I sat in the car and walked the tech through the steps on the DRBIII. This might not work for a stock PCM, I can't say, but it does work on the Stage PCMs. A nice side benefit is that it erases for good the P0633 code, since it sends the secret key data also.

I have also assisted maybe 15-20 folks through this process remotely through PMS or phone calls.

As a matter of fact, you can do it to your own Stage 1 and erase your P0633 code. If I had access to a DRB, I know I would.

Yup, glhs837 is right. If you can't do it, there are places you can send it to and they'll do it for you (for a price).....

I know alot of dealerships that re-flash them. One in Maine does it for $30 flat. I think its Mayton Jeep. Correct me if I'm wrong it was pasted on SRTforums. Some just dont't like doing it, others charge alot, and yet others insist that if you didn't buy it there they cant do it, and they have to put it on for you. But what Ive seen and heard is usually around 30-40 dollars, which is a "good" price. Personally I'd rather buy one new, cause thats just how I am....to me even though its a good deal used just isnt the same when it comes to engine components and powertrain control modules.

But what I didn't know, and do know now is that you can erase the P0633. That would definitely come in handy in states like California where any modification warrants a problem.

Whats weird about my car, is I think in my accident I crushed my PCM, becuase its not giving me any codes, and the front part of the engine is all messed up. Silly PCM.

Oh and I think theres a thread in the srtforums, thats stickied.....

HERE IT IS! GLHS....the poster:
http://srtforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43352

Or read it here:
Thanks to nastyblacksrt and his dealership techs for trying this and verifying that it works. Since then at least two, maybe three or more used Stage 1s have been reflashed this way.

These procedure are from the PL2000 Powertrain Service Manual.

NOTE: 2.4L Turbo Manual Transmission.
After replacing the PCM, you must program
pinion factor.

1. Turn the ignition on (transmission in park/
neutral).
2. Use the DRBIIIt and select THEFT ALARM,
SKIM then MISCELLANEOUS.
3. Select PCM REPLACED.
4. Enter secured access mode by entering the vehicle
four-digit PIN.

5. Press ENTER to transfer the secret key (the
SKIM will send the secret key to the PCM).

This concludes method one.

Please see the other sticky (Rekey Method)for the alternate method, for use when your dealership does not want to use this method.

Please instruct your dealer to follow the DCX procedures as found in the proper DCX manual, not these, these are intended strictly to show your dealer which procedure is to be used.

And RIP, two things I don't normally mention regarding this, since to the laymen it's meaningless and causes confusion

One is that I know you don't set pinion angle for the SRT, but since that is part of the text in the book, I left it in to help folks convince techs that this is indeed a valid procedure from the 18623-PL-powertrain book. Section 3-2-9.

Biggest hassle is convincing the dealership to try it. Seems you folks have been trained that the VIN, once encoded, is "burned" or "tatooed". I wish I knew if this was true for stock PCMs, but I don't. Might be something DCX puts out to prevent enterprising techs from going into a used PCM side business. DOn't know. But I do know it's usable on the Stage PCMs.

OF course, there is the Flight Systems option. they are the folks that handle the PCM prgramming for DCX and Mopar. ONly thing I don't like about that is that you wil still have the P0633 code, since FS doesn't have the SKIM and Sentry key to use.
