AEM has had issues with damage to the hood. K & N is your best bet. IMO

I have the K & N Typhoon CAI on mine and it is both a CAI as well as a short ram. It is designed to be used as either, you can simply put on the upper pipe and leave it at that or you can put the lower pipe on as well and have the full CAI.

AEM's issues with the hood aren't present on the short ram. it is the cold air extension that is a problem, I believe.

The shorty is a good product and I love mine.

i have an aem short ram and don't have any prob with my hood, and as for the short ram sucking in hot air... It goes through a turbo... it doesn't matter how cold the air is, once it goes through there it will be hot... that is why you have an intercooler.

I love my short ram aem, and i could not see spending more money for cold induction, i don'tthink that cold or hot air makes any difference on a turbo car.

This has been debated before and CAI is better and has been dyno proven to be better. It also has several other benefits as well, such as temperature. The turbocharger will raise the intake air temperature regardless of anything you can do or what intake type you have, but how much it raises the intake air temperature is something you can change. The cooler the air is that enters the turbo, the cooler it will be coming out of it as well. This will also help reduce the turbochargers operating temperatures as well, thus reducing the chances of the turbocharger failing or becoming damaged. And the lower the intake air temperature coming out of the turbo, the more efficient the intercooler will be at keeping the intake air temperatures down resulting in more power and lower operating temperatures.
