Help
Doe's the kicker equipped srt4 come with a bigger altinator or is it the same size as the non kicker srt4. I've installed a panasonic deck, replace they speaker's with memphis bell, and put my 2 10" he's from my splash. And put a p3001 rockford 2 channel amp w/ 4 gauge in . But know all my light's flicker and the amp's only on 1/2 way as it's max power from the factory is 1100 watts and about 400 watts rms. The stereo gut i talked to said i need a new alt witch they can have built but will cost between $600-800 dollars. Or go to either a cap or a batcap.net . Witch has a 20 farad capacity. basicly a real small battery for $260. I need all the help i can get to get rid of my problem for the cheapest and best way possible. thx's
look into a cap (short for Capacitor)... they are made by a host of companies, and wire in (if I recall) from the battery to the amp... they are "large" capacitor which helps "level" out the affects of power fluxes caused in the amps (when the bass hits!)...
not sure on the price... Lightning used to make some... I am sure many other companies do! they come in 1/2 stacks and full stacks... any knowledgeable audio personal should be able to figure out which you need!

I have about a 750 watt coustic amp and full alpine system, and my lights dim too. I took it out of my dakota and put it in my car, and it will not boom anywhere near what y truck would, I have assumed that that is the problem.
The stock SRT-4s with the Kicker have light dimming problems, buy a grounding kit and you should be all set. If its not fixed then, I would definitely look into a capacitator, you definitely don't need a new alternator, not running at 400wRMS. 600-800$$? Bull****, He's a tard trying to steal your money. If the grounding kit doesnt work (which for many it has) then look into a 1/2 farad Capacitator, which will help immensely. If you were running a 3000+ watt RMS system, I could see needing a Stinger alternator, but not on a 400wRMS system...sorry.
Yeah the grounding on these cars is horrible. Change out ALL the grounding wires, even throughout the engine, and you'll notice an incredible difference, for the better. Alot of people use 0 gauge for the battery, and 4 gauge for others, but you can get away with 4 gauge for all of them. Trust you me, this will work.
i was thinking of a grounging kit or a cap sence it doesn't dim to bad with the amp only 1/2 way up sense my current sub's won't take the max peak of 1100 watts. I ain't about to bye a $600-800 dollar alt. If a grounding kit don't take care of it i'll get a cap.

Definitely get a grounding kit, you WILL NOT regret it. Not only will it improve your stereo system, it will improve your car as well. These cars like I said, are grounded horribly....trust you me, that grounding kit will make your problems go away and prevent future ones.
With the amount of wRMS your running, theres no way in hell you need a cap, unless your running it through a Colt or a Geo Metro. Then again in a car like that you might kill it conserving all that power....[sm=smiley4.gif]
