Default Painting rims

Well i saw some painted rims on an srt-4, they were painted black...now i need some input if i did paint them i would paint them flat black with some kind of engine paint that can take high heat and all the good stuff, not normal spray paint. But is this even possible, is it going to chip or flake? Input please i just like the look of black rims and it would be alot cheaper than buying new rims plus i like the SRT-4 rims..

don't most rims have a "coating" over the paint?? I don't think painting them is a good idea unless you have it "professionally" done or "know what you are doing"...

just my $0.02 but I wouldn't chance it...

a friend of mine just painted my old rims for his car. he just wet sanded them a little bit and used dulpicolor rim paint. he put on like 5 coats and then put on a few clear coats and they look great!

best way would Powder Coat them, Look in the phone book and you could find a place around $250-500

yea, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper to do it yourself. $200 for powdercoating or $30 in spray rim paint. looks just about the same too, especially if you just do black, i've seen it done both ways.

Definitely wet sand a bit, tape off what you don't want painted, and buy some rim paint. Theyll come out fine

I've got a few of SRT-4s with painted rims. Here you go. I have more I just can't find them right now.

Sexy, its seems like you have pictures of everything...and wow that looks badass but wouldnt it be hard to do that, i mean i know you would tape it off but still like to do it for the same spoke on everyone one...how do you think it would look if you did the whole thing black?

i think it might look good if it was all black, it really depends on whether you personally want it more of a flashy 'look at my painted rims'(with leaving the silver) or a more subtle look, which could be obtained by painting the whole thing.
