why the rush over the srt-4
?Who would put a double stick manual in a performance vehicle as there are no benefit's. My other ? is the only thing close to a double stick i've seen in a car is the last gen old's 442 running a three stick auto. The only Double stick manual's i've seen or heard of are in some old jeep's, ****** and some other old 4x's other than for semi's. Anyone else think's this double stick sound's fishy.
Sexy it don't matter what forum your in you will still find peep's like that. just got to ignore them. Im in here srtforums, mnsrt, myfordfocus and a couple other's and you still find those kind of peep's. It's up to the peep's running thing's to do something about it to make it a better forum. 13.2 is alright for an old turbo dodge. i have several friends with old turbo dodges.lancer, charger, shadow, and mini van. my friend ran a 12.56 in his mini van. just broke the record Last saturday. I love my srt-4 and it responds alot better to mods. take the head for instance. srt-4 head is a cross flow head. the old dodges have the exhaust manifold and the intake on the same side which doesn't flow as well. I love the old dodges and love the srt-4, but the srt-4 will respond alot better to mods because of the design of the engine. The old turbo dodge engines where also very strong, and so is the srt-4. zr1's wheren't too bad. the lt5 was a good motor. 405 hp. dohc v8. they stopped making them in 95. as it goes they will always be coming out with faster and better cars.
I bet they said that back in the 60's as well, but then the 70's came and a combination of emissions, oil shortages and soaring insurance rates strangled the power right out of everything. It all seems to be repeating as fuel prices keep rocketing, as well as insurance costs, and the horsepower climbing through the roof just like it did in the late 60's/early 70's. I hope that it doesn't happen like that again, the late 70's and the 80's had some really crap cars, the Corvette in '85 only had 185 horsepower and that was Chevys top performance car made. Enjoy it while it lasts, because it could go the other way anytime as it has before. I think the next time it will be restrictions put on the manufacturers by the government, kinda like emissions only more definative and harder to get around.
Hi all. New member here. I came to this forum because I'm interested in purchasing a new SRT-4 and wanted to read all I could. I posted on this thread as I found it interesting as I own and 84 Turbo Colt. Mine is modified a bit and is pretty fast. But it is so unrefined.
I have two original road test articles on the car.
The original 84 Colt turbo had 102hp and curb weight was 1850 pounds. So you would have to strip it a bit to get it to 1700 pounds. The Motor Trend test was 0-60 in 8.0 seconds. Mine is modified up to about 160hp. No intercooler. I was thinking I was at about 0-60 in 6.0 seconds but not sure.
I was going to put a bunch of money into the colt, aluminum wheels 50 series tires and new paint, but decided I'd rather get a new turbo car that would be reliable and also have good potential.
Anyway, the form looks great and glad I found it.
Frank

BTW, I am pulling all of this from memory so don't flame me if I have said something that is not entirely correct. My memory is just as old as I am.

Definately get an SRT-4 Frank. You will go from your current 0-60 MPH in 6.0 sec. to 5.3 sec. and you haven't even done anything to it yet. Your gonna run the 1/4 mile in 13.9 sec. at 103 MPH too. And probably the biggest and best improvement will be the looks, the SRT-4 looks GREAT!!!
Glad to see you join and hope you get the car. I have had mine about a month and love it. I just hit 1300 mile and the best thing is beating cars that think it is a neon and i put a wing on it. The best race i have had is with a CRX last night we ran a rolling start from 2nd i thought cya later. When i look to the side he is still there oh oh!!!! i freeked kept it on the floor. I still won i talked to him after and he said it was stock. So i guess Honda does make a fast car after all.
I don't think so, the CRX's are turds, he was modified in some manner. He was probably spraying, but there is no way he could even put up a fight unless it's modified.
