Default WRX or SRT-4

Hi.. Just posted in New members area. I know that the SRT-4 is best bang for buck. However, for the long term, which would you choose. Both cars have their advantages. Opinions please.

SRT-4. If your just looking at getting a WRX. But I don't like STi's either, the clutch is too easy, its really ahdunno how to describe it, the SRT-4 is nice and tight, the Subie's clutches are really squishy and spongey. I don't like Subaru's myself, AND if I were you I'd DEFINITELY check into what Subaru is doing to WRX & STi owners as far as service and warranty work. Its horrible. They're getting ****ed over bigtime. The only thing i like about that car is AWD. The SRT-4 you don't see too many of them, compared to the Subie's, and overall have very very very few problems in the long run. I'd take the SRT-4 any day. But if you want, ask more specific questiosn about WHY you should choose the SRT, then myself and other members can go from there. Oh and Subies don't hold up well in accidents.

First two are Subies, second one had an impact of 45-55mph. The third one is an SRT-4. NO cage damage WHATSOEVER, at an impact of over 70mph.

See my sig for an SRT-4 that held up through flying over a median and into a guardrail at over 100mph. no cage damage whatsover. The only damaged engine pieces are the radiator and intake box. These cars are indestructable.

Take into thought the safety of the two vehicles where crashes are concerned. SRT-4s are damn solid little guys.

Thank you. That is information that most people do not know about or even guess. Since the SRT-4 has the Neon stigma monkey riding on it's shoulders; you would not think it was that sturdy. That definitely helps. Thanx again.

Nate

PS. Since I am moving to Jacksonville soon, I am looking for a new baby. I have posted my situation and a big hello in the new members area.

Oh yeah, by the way, Welcome to Dodge Forums. I wouldn't recommend treking over to SRTForums, its kinda harsh over there. I spend most of my time here.

I've always been one to have a car that no one else really has. I had a 2001 Stratus R/T coupe, but it was Deep Evergreen Pearlcoat, no one bought a green one! Now I have my special Edition Miata (710/1549), and the SRT-4. Theres a handful of SRT-4s out there. But everytime I leave my house I see at LEAST 5-10 WRX/STIs. The Viper seats, if your not getting Side Impact Airbags, are incredible too. When I got into my accident, and lost control, if I was in a regular style seat I wouldv'e been hurt SOOOO much more than I was. It has a solid headrest area, so my neck was fully supported. And the side bolsters kept me where I belonged. Safety's a big issue for me with cars. And I've found Dodge's to hold up extremely well. Yes it does have the Neon name, but still...an EVO is based off the Lancer. I was stop dead in traffic in my Stratus Coupe and was rear ended by a drunk driver who was driving 50mph....his front end went into his front seat...my car walked away with 3k in damages. (he pushed me into the guy in front of me).

I also come from a Mopar family, so I can be a bit biased. But these cars hold up very very well as far as safety is concerned. And theres nothing like smoking someone in a "neon". It is assumed to be the fastest FWD vehicle ever made. All other vehicles faster are RWD or AWD. And it will be Dodge's last turbo for awhile. If you've got any other questions feel free to ask.

And again, Welcome to the Family. Hopefully you can get yourself behind the wheel of one of these puppies....you'll fall in love the way we all have.

Just to reiterate definitely look into how Subaru is ****ing over WRX/STi owners. Its friggin evil.

Just like the SRT-4 is just a Neon, so the STi is just an Imprezza. I considered both before I made a purchase and went the direction that I knew I would. The STi is nice, but I just cannot see putting that much money into a car that isn't a Viper. The only feature the STi has over the SRT-4 is it's AWD.

my boss has a WRX, it's a nice looking car, i can't hear him turn it on. so it is not a good sounding car. lol. i got rear ended last spring by a late 80's subie, i drove home, he was towed to the junk yard for parts. GO DODGE!!!! last winter we had a freak snow storm in Orego. i was stuck at home with my SRT, my boss was stuck at home in his WRX( he had the wrong tires on and had no traction even with AWD)>

if i had the money i would have bought a sti instead of my srt. i love the sti. now that being said, you can't beat what the srt has to offer. tons of power for not so much money, the car responds very well to mods, and parts for these cars are rediculously cheap. we really don't realize it, but we get off so easy when it comes to parts and cost of them, it really makes other car owners a little mad lol. my friend has a wrx, and he's always comparing it to my srt. the amount of money that he has to spend on his car just to have it keep up with me is just outrageous. it's at least double what i put into the car for the same results. i would definetly buy a srt over a wrx any day, awd or not. in jacksonville, you don't get much snow so the awd aspect doesn't help you much with the weather.

and just for the record sexy, you are using your car as an example of how well the srt holds up in an accident, but you didn't mention to this person what your injuries were from that same accident. the car might have held up well, but you were beaten up very badly in it. i've seen other srts that have gotten into accidents, and i have been pretty impressed with the way that they are holding up. just something else to think about when making that decision.

as for not treaking over to srtforums, i would suggest that you do. no offense to this forum, i do like it here, but it just does not have the people and amount of information that srtforums does. the people here are great, but with people like dale, starkie, super steve, gina, bj, and dodgetweaker on srtforums, it just can't compare with the information that can had. yes, there are some morons over there, it's kinda hard not to with 15k members and a young age base. there is also a lot of wrong info floating around that you have to get through, which is true of all forums, including this one. it's a matter of knowing who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't, and the only way to figure that out is to read a lot and get a sense of people. sexy, just because you have a personal problem with a few members over there doesn't mean that everyone should avoid it.

The debate could go on and on with this subject. I bought my SRT because it's not as common as say, a plain jane WRX. Plus, I liked the styling and interior ergonomics better.

If I had an unlimited supply of cash.. STI. AWD, interior is nicer, and it's fast.
Since I don't... SRT-4, best bang for the buck period. Overall most dependable car I have owned (had zero problems so far myself). And OMG it's a Dodge for god sakes (for all you fanatics out there )

But Regular WRX / SRT-4.
SRT-4 hands down no matter the situation. (unless it's snow.. gah.. stupid fwd powerhouse.)
