Default Help me make my decision on selling my stang for a srt4

Ok guys, im new to the forums and the srt world. i currently have a 2004 mustang gt, with 381hp and 468.57lbs, ft tq, 125 shot wet, and tons of other mods. im just bored with it. and i hate seeing srts beat up on my without nitrous and im tired of filling up my bottle and switching tunes constantly. with nitrous my car is a beast but its not always there and i dont feel like spending 4 grand on a supercharger and max out my motor at 400 hp and after that i have to build it which is another 3 grand.

Ive been really liking srt4s and their potential. i see that they are being sold for about 10-15 thousand. if i bought a totally stock srt4 what are the first mods i should get? anything i should stay away from? different things about different years? im thinking about getting a stock one, and i should have about 5 grand left over. what should my first mods be? im thinking a stage 3 or an aftermarket turbo kit. agp or ams, are they as complete as a stage 3? are the stage 3 a complete kit? install and go? how much can the stock motors hold?

im confused about all the kits? they come with tunes correct? i seen untuned srt4s running around all the time i dont see how thats safe?

so my question is, forget that this is a srt site and trufullly would you get rid of my mustang for a srt4? i respect both of the cars. im just scared as soon as i buy an srt4 im going to regret selling my mustang. what are the first mods you would get?

sorry for all the questions, but its a big decision i have to make. thanks for your help!!

First off, Nice mustang! My question is what do you want to do with this car or the srt4 ? Daily driver? Do you want to run 10's at the track ? Beat up sh*t on the street ? What's your goal ?
The mustang is an awesome platform man and I wouldn't give it up to quick. The srt-4 with comparable power is going to beat you from a roll on the street....but on the track is going to be another story.

i would think long and hard on this one.
the mopar stage kits (such as S3) are pretty much plug and play, not requiring a tune to run.but for the cash you can go with, say apg, and get more bang for your buck. but youll have to tune. the motor can safely hold about 400hp.
youll need to really learn the car, its a beast to keep traction in it off the line. but the car has alot of potential. and you can make a nice little sleeper car out of it if you so choose.
just prepare to be hated on by your old stang buddies, and lots of others too

ok thanks for the advice. ive been thinking about it all week. so srt4's can only hold 400 safely? thats the same as mustangs. but it seems a built motor for an srt4 is way cheaper then a mustang obviously. and i just want this to be an all out car. street, and track. not autox im more of a straight line guy, coming from a mustang. what other platforms do you guys think i should look at for about 15000? not srt related?

my mustang looked basically the same as yours except it was an '02 and it had a kenne bell blower on it making over 430whp and i don't regret going from that to my srt4. still get a chance to drive my old mustang from time to time and i start to miss the mustang while i'm driving it, but after about 4 or 5 miles i get over it.

if you sell your current car for a stock SRT there is no doubt youll be downgrading to a slower car. but then again like you said you canupgrade.each have their pros andcons...its really a call your gonna have to make.

just during the test drive i knew the srt4 seemed like it would be more fun to drive and later on i learned to appreciate that at the same 15,000 miles my mustang had a lot more body squeaks and rattles and the stang already had leaks at engine, trans and rear axle. at 22,000 miles the srt still has no leaks and still doesn't have any squeeks or rattles. don't miss 16mpg either - i'm getting 28-29 now. with my current mods the mustang is faster, but s3 w/toys would probably change that....and i'll still get 28-29mpg, i hope. the '02 kenne bell mustang w/4.10 gears was fun, but it wasn't that great as a daily driver.
