Ahhh, Ford deserves it. For years, the Mustang had 5.0 on the fender, it was always a 4.9, liars. In the late eightys, the rated 302 at 220 hp, when actually it was 205 hp. (1996 I think) The first Cobras had to be recalled because they did not put out the advertised hp figuire. THEN, the tire cover up from Firestone, they knew the tires were not good. How about Pinto's exploding????? Remember that. Now, the Crown Vic's explode when rearended. Some of the local Police boycotted Ford last year, and bought Intrepid pursuit packages. Ford is a sneaky, sleazy car company. Ever notice 8 out of 10 car fires you see on the side of the road are FORDS????

I realize my support of Ford here will be belittled... but let's take a little look into this one... a police car (Crown Vic usually with the P-71 performance package) is sitting on the side of the road stationary... now take a speeding car (45 mph, 55 mph, 60+mph) and ram it into the back of the stationary car... result... bad news. I only bring this up because we are talking about news agencies skewing facts here... example being the Crown Vic's exploding... any car, hit from the rear at a high speed is going to have severe issues... a former roommates father works for Ford and worked on the Crown Vic during this "problem"... Point is, there wasn't a problem...

It's similar to the GMC trucks that exploded when hit from the sides... remember that one?? what was it, Dateline rigged it to explode? I am not suggesting that Ford is perfect, nor am I saying that all the Crown Vics that have caught fire are from "rigged experiments"... I agree the Pinto issue was a joke, the "5.0" is a 4.948893 liter engine (depending on how you round the #'s it can be a 5.0), and the Cobra thing... well... that one is straight-up Fords fault all the way. I leave the Firestone issue as is because it leads to nothing but pointing fingers and name calling

the point is, don't complain about one thing a news agency does then buy into other things they try to sell you

Where do you get That figure? You almost sound like a newscaster.j/k

I didn't start this thread to be a 'stang bashing party. It is an observation of how bad the local news is and how badly it sensationalizes everything it gets its hands on. If there were as many srt-4's out there as mustangs, we could be a target as well(thank goodness there aren't).

hah, I was driving home from kokomo the other day and there was a truck on the side of the road with the hood up. The dumbass in front of my stopped and turned on his blinkers, got out the car(in the middle of the road, dammit) and about three minutes later the truck starts up with a big blast of smoke. Maybe 20 seconds down the road, he coasts to the side and pops his hood again. You guessed it, a ford. I found it amusing.

srt-ya is angry because no one would insure him on a cobra..

but seriously...srt-ya...i understand your point about the parked car being slammed into..but, if that was the case, why did ford recall so many this year? plus the recalls on the f250s (i think), sables and the thunderturds? ford issued a full stop-sale on all of the above vehicles...i know, because when it happened, we had special deals on cars of the same markets...and whats this talk of rounding?

and for the record..i could turn anything into a stang bashing party..

I hear ya' and generally agree. I think most Ford's are POS's, myself. Ever since I drove my friends old fox bodied cobra years back, I have thought they drive like boats with bad brakes - almost as bad as Camaro's or Trans am's. Just wasn't my point here.

I'm glad DCX rounds down. Since ours is really 2.429litres does that mean I have a 2.5?

Hey guys and gals, Yes I hate Fords. Had a 1990 LX 5.0, for six months. Just didn't like it. BUT, if you think DCX or any other car company is less evil or neglegent....think again. Sorry

good call

I'm not trying to start anything here... but 2.429 can't be rounded to 2.5... 4.9 can be rounded to 5 (that's all I am getting at with the rounding statement) simple mathematics

srt-ya is angry because no one would insure him on a cobra..
hahahaha... not exactly it was the fact that certain years of Cobra's don't come with the snake logo in the grill, that really turned me off - hahaha that and the crappy cup holders... hahahaha
