Simple math would say that the statement you just made is false[8D].

The difference between 2.429 and 2.5 is .071. The difference between 4.9 and 5.0 is .100. Simple math says you treat numbers equally if rounding. You are actually rounding 29% more in the case of the mustang.

The point is mute though, since Mustangs Round up in all areas - Horsepower, Displacement, Torque - to make their cars look good on paper and to the press.
And Dodge rounds down in all of the same areas so their cars look good in reality.


Now - If we are really being scrutinous, the Mustang is question is a 4.949litre engine.
It is called a 5.0 litre.
The srt-4 has a 2.429litre engine.
It is called a 2.4 litre.

Ford in truth chooses to exaggerate by .051 Litres
Dodge in truth chooses to underestimate by .029 Litres

Ford says the car produced 225 hp at the crank and it really put out about 205.
Dodge says the car produced 230 hp at the crank and people dyno all day long at 230+ at the wheels.

And I do give credit to modern Cobras as being good 1/4 mile cars. You can with all that being said extract 450+hp with simple add ons on newer cobras I would like to race one of those. With my mods I think I could hang pretty tight but I doubt I'd beat one.

A car that has been around since the mid-60's with heritage and a strong fan base vs. a car that has a 3 year production run... bah... Obviously Ford/Mustang have been doing something right??

and yes, I do own (short of the loan from the bank - haha) and love my SRT, and yes I did consider buying a used Cobra and opted for the SRT instead... I just can't understand why everyone hates Mustangs/Ford so much... a few owners ruined the whole bunch?? To be honest, all the guys I personally know that are Dodge truck guys are bigger d!c*s than any of my Ford friends... oh well... I'm done ranting... it falls on deaf ears... haha...

 

Agreed on the ram driver comment - a lot of those guys are Jerks. I love pissing them off with my "baby" dodge by beating SLOW Hemis who think they are the Kings of the road.

I might not agree with the first comment though. I would nix all mustangs from '72 to '02 when talking about their heritage. ALL american cars were crap for a long time there.

 

Even the "Ford Guy" can agree with the Mustang-II era through the mid-to-late 70's... ugh... [:'(] except for that whole Mad Max/Road Warrior look

 

I just never liked Mustangs. And I've never liked Corvettes either. People buy them and think they rule the road. Its ridiculous. They drive like total *********. And on top of that, why would I want to buy a car that everyone and their grandmother's aunt's best friend has?? Thats just my opinion on it.

But when you talk about Ford trucks *drool* F250s/F350s are sexy!! Except the new F250/350 line that just came out with the uber huge boxy chrome grill [:'(] GROSS!! They tried to look like Dodge.

I have never, and will never like Rustangs/Ricetangs/****stangs etc.....I'm not bashing on ford as a company, I'm not a ford chick by any means, but I wont bash the company theyve done damn well for themselves. But I hate mustangs...with a passion.
