need some srt owners opinions please :)
hey everyone.. i foundwhat i believe is a good deal on a 2005 orange blast srt and i just wanna know everybodys opinions on if its really a good deal or not. ok first off, the car was hit on the passenger side rear quarter panel and was professionally repaired and by looking at it you would have never guessed it had been hit. I pulled the trunk carpet up and u can clearly see where a new panel was re-welded and finished off... but i dont really see a big deal in that. The tire where it was hit looks a little bent inward though so that was my main concern with the collision. another thing i found odd was when i revved it up to about 3,000 rpms i wasnt getting any boost as it read about "0" on the gauge. all the power options work great, its a low mileage car with about 28,000 miles. So when i first started the car it took a while to fire up and then ran pretty good except a dash board light came up which i wasnt too familiar with, i know this sounds goofy but its almost shaped like a greddy type s bov if that helps any and its right above the fuel gauge. okay so here is basically all my questions...
1.) 3,000 rpms with 0 boost.... normal??
2.) tire slightly bent inward after collision... how serious?
3.) re-welded rear quarter panel... how serious?
4.) this weird engine light that came on at first the went away after i restarted the car.. what the hell is it? lol
5.) $9800 for an 05 orange blast srt with those problems listed.. good deal??
thanks everybody who sat through this and stated their opinion!

You need to check for frame damage/and see what the alignment of the wheels look like. If you live in an area that uses salt on the roads, also consider that due to the body damage.......the price isn't bad, but I would check the car out VERY CAREFULLY..........

have any buddies or acquaintences who know bout bodywork, take em along. the welded quarterpanel is a sign you found yourself. as far as the frame, get under the car, you can look for areas where the frame was 'pulled' on, 'warped' looking areas. think of it this way: bend a paper clip up, then try to bend it back to shape... same applies to trying to straighten a car's frame. no matter how 'close' to perfect you want to spend time getting, there will be signs.
as far as alignment, you can feel for 'pulling' when driving and esepcially braking. this will tell you more front than rear though. best option is to take the car to a trusted shop with an alignment machine and pay to have it looked at. while there they can probably go over it mechanically and look for signs of body work and such.

i like the price, i wouldnt pay any higher than that though. im pretty sure that light on the dash you see is the check engine light. go to the CODES page in the stickys and print it out. when you go check the car out again turn it on and off 3 times without actually turning it over and a code will come up and thats your problem. definitely triple check that wheel. if all else fails however, buy the car and turn around and sell it privately to a 16 year old with too much money. even if you sold it for 14g's theyd still see it as a good deal i would think. oh yea and even though it was fixed by a professional auto body shop, it was only fixed to the dealer's liking. all salvage titles seem to be repaired to the bare minimum to passfor resale.
