Your 95 Neon could run forever on Castrol Syntec with no problems. However the 2.4 turbo engine in the SRT-4 puts a much bigger demand on the oil, especially in how it stands up to the heat a turbo engine produces. Dino oils or dino blends break down much faster than full synthetics under high temp operating conditions. There's a reason Dodge recommended full synthetic, and it wasn't because they own part of Mobil.....

When I said "I don't see why Castrol Syntec would be bad" I was talking about Castrol Syntec FULL SYNTHETIC, not the synthetic blend. Sorry for not being more specific. And I didn't use Syntec in my '95 neon I used conventional Castrol GTX. No Problems. As I said above, in my 2003 SRT-4 I only use Mobil 1 or Lucas FULL SYNTHETIC 5W-30. And I usually use Fram oil filters if anyone cares, sometimes Tough Gard but usually regular.[8D]

Why are the Frams bad ones, I used to use them on my old Trans Am all the time?

the Purolator Filter (with Fiberglass filter element) is what I use currently, also has a check valve in it.

a lot of people don't like fram filters because they claim that the filtering element in them isn't as good as many of the other brands out there. personally i just stick with mopar, i get them cheap and they work.

The performance gain and how long your engine lasts probably depends more on how often the owner does the required maintenance......in my 42 years of owning cars, I have NEVER had an engine related problem following the owner's manual for service...

I've wasted a bunch of money on fancy advertising. But whatever makes you feel good, go with it...........it's YOUR car!!!

well...mobil 1 is the only oil that is 100%
all the other oils out there are started from conventional, but contain enough synthetic to be considered Fully Synthetic. which is why mobil 1 is the best. BUT the other oils are really good too. so it whichever you choose. my freind is crazy about royal purple. i used that and loved it. but i prever mobil 1 cuz its a lil bit cheaper...but is using new technology to be made...royal purple is old school technology.

I agree Mobil 1 is probably the best of the major brands but I still think it would be fine to use Full Synthetic Pennzoil, Quaker State, Valvoline, Castrol, etc. as long as it's labeled full synthetic and not synthetic blend.

As for Royal Purple I like their Synchromax tranny fluid but I haven't tried their motor oil. I've only used Mobil 1 and Lucas Full Synthetic.

Has anyone tried the Lucas Synthetic and what do you think? What about using 4 quarts of Mobil 1 and 1 quart of Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer?

What exactly is so terrible about them? I've used them for a long time and never had problems. What would you reccommend? Purolator? Mopar? Mobil 1?

How much do Mopar filters usually cost? Does anyone online sell them at a good price?

Is the Mobil 1 filter really worth it? They are pretty expensive.
