Joined the SRT Family!!!!! BUT got a few questions please help...
thanks a lot man. Drove the cararound the block and brought it back andit's still leaking a good amount.A friend of mine came by last night and we checked the power steering fluid and it was low (ADD).
Those lines I posted what are they called?
Also, the fill plug is the rubber plug with what looks like has a "nipple"on the driver's side (when looking at front of car) correct? Just making sure I don't pull the wrong thing. Thanks a lot for you help it's awesome. Bear with me though as I drove an auto SE forever and a day and never had to check for tranny problems or anything like that.

yeah, in the picture of the trans, thats looking from the front. the fill plug is on the side by the driver's side wheel can be seen in the pic. if you have a cai you may be able to see it from the top as well. but if you have a stock airbox you probably will have to look from underneath to see it.
i wish i had my car here to look at where the lines go. i thought they might be hvac related but another member said one of them was for the power steering. try to trace the lines and see where they go (power steering pump, a/c compressor, etc)

I wasn't able to check it out today which sucks but I'm really hoping it's the power steering fluid. The guy that I bought it from said that when it left him, it had all the fluids filled, now the power steering is low. I'm really really hoping that's it lol. If you come across a picture or something telling exactly what the lines are, let me know please. once again THANKS!
looked in the manual, it looks to be a power steering line running to the cooler (little radiatior you see behind the oil filter)
ithis sounds really strange but its in the manual:
"CAUTION: Use only MoparT ATF+4 Automatic TransmissionFluid (MS-9602) in the power steering system.Do not overfill."
automatic transmission fluid in the power steering... uhh makes sense to me[&:]
while at it, looking at fluid types / capacities. in the T850 transmission (ours), it states
"Manual Transaxle - NV
T850***
2.3-2.5L (2.4-2.6 qts.)""***(includes 0.12 L (4 oz.) of MoparT Limited Slip
Additive (P/N 04318060AB))"
^^Yea i have been reading about that. I think it is the power steering. Since it is ATF+4 do you think i can by the Pennzoil ATF i have at work and put it in or should I wait on it? I
t only leaks when I drive the car. When i have it running at idle it doesn't at all. Could that be an indication or if it was a tranny leak would it happen the same way (leak only when driving)?'
In the picture above, the hose on the left is the one where i saw the fresh oil around the seal.

Yes our Powersteering fluid is ATF+4, and those are the PS lines going to the powersteering cooler that are leaking. No that isn't a common problem. But if you lost that much already, there really isn't all that much in the system to lose in the first place. Check the black resivor to the left of the intake manifold, if the car is an 04-05 it will have a black cap, if its an 03 early 04 built in 03 it will have a yellow cap. Fill that bad boy up with the ATF+4. Then definitely get it somewhere where they can definitively diagnose which portion of the PS system is bad, be it the cooler, the lines, the hoses a loose clamp, etc.
hmm, you could try having a buddy crank the steering wheel back and forth with the car just idling and see if putting pressure on the steering pump makes fluid leak out onto some cardboard under the car.
it all makes sense why it looked like tranny fluid after reading that. i never had to put any in mine yet, so i never looked up what kind it used. but tranny fluid? wow, i admit im suprised by that one.
just check up on the lines running through there for a loose connection where it may be leaking from. could be a very easy fix (loose or broken clamp, etc)

Alot of DCX vehicles use ATF+4 in the Powersteering fluid. I've checked mine and topped it off from time to time but never had an issue with it leaking like that.
lol, i just talked with the wife and told her how i learned that our car usues tranny fluid in the power steering and she was like "yeah, i know"
i learned something new today i guess. looking at that picture i posted too, mine has a pretty big ding in it from road debris. im suprised the thing dosent leak.

Hello heard you just got yours real nice.Since your having that kind of problem take it back to the dealer and have them fix it and if they can't it look like they owe you another SRT4.
