Back in the saddle...repose...what is it that makes the srt-4 so darn good?
Hey Amy, Hey Crystal, hey Jim, and Amanda and everyone else...I missed you guys!
Yep - 2 year Altima 3.5 lease is up and I miss the old srt-4 so much I just drove a pristine 2005 srt-4 with 28,000 miles, which I think I'm buying on monday. Hopefully after that I will be changing my srt-4 picture to one in a shade of black(just couldn't find a silver in this condition or really at all and I need the financing). So I got em crossed...and onto the subject of my thread...
What is it that makes this car so special? I have driven many performance cars with much higher standards of finish and similar...from bimmers, to evo's, to hondas to whatever, really...and I don't find them as satisfying as this here SRT-4.
Today was my first drive in one in 2 years and it felt like I was home. I was so pleased when I turned it in on the offramp and pushed the gas pedal and remembered the way that the diff. just makes this front driver pull itself through the turn on power. I drove it for about 5 minutes and I remember why I am hooked on the car.
Despite the old slightly vague steering, and all of the quirks like the tps wires i'm expecting to replace every 20,000 miles and the #4 spark wire that I'll melt, and the oil in the intercooler sans catch can and .......you know....everything else I could list in a page long post; this car pleases in a way that is usually reserved for very special automobiles At least I feel it does.
Does anyone else feel as passionately that this car can't be touched in value?
I guess maybe it is one of those very special cars.
I am excited at the prospect of getting back into one.
Had to rant a moment.
Please add your rants.

P.S. anyone got a s2 with kit lying around?

Yes it is a special car. I've never been so sad to sell a car in my life. However, a 4x4 truck is virtually mandatory where I'm at now at least 7 months out of the year. I was shopping for some furniture today and driving thru the Saturday Alamosa, Co traffic and found myself reaching down to where the SRT-4 shifter would have been on more than one occasion. I also have to break myself of the habit of going somewhat easy on the gas pedal.......what got me going down the road in a smart fashion in the SRT-4 barely gets the truck out of 2nd gear!!!

Awwww...I didnt know you sold yours Dusty...guess we wont have matching 3d tails on our silver srt's anymore - i gotta find a set for the new black one - i think they'll fit it well too. What kind of truck did ya' get anyhow? (If financing doesnt go well on monday I think we might yet again match, as I may enter truckdom. (and get a motorbike for kicks...i need a little speed))
Well, the good news is that I sold it to a fellow DF member, Derek. I got me a Ford F-150 STX 4x4 since the dealer in Alamosa deals in Fords and under the "Z-plan" I got $3500 off the sticker in addition to the current rebates. I drove away for less than $1,000 more than I paid for the SRT-4. I can't bring myself to change my siggy.......I put a lot of time and effort in that little car and it never failed to perform just the way it was supposed to.........

glad to see you returning to the SRT4. i know i would miss mine terribly. perhaps we will see Dusty buy another one in times to come?
let's add to it...what is your best memory in the SRT.
I can remember a couple instances that were memorable...so I'll add a couple.
1) Driving at Island Dragway and getting laughed at by a clueless guy in a yellow '03 SVT mustang. Then proceeding to leave him at the line and never see him until we brake at the end of the quarter...ah the look on his face...go brag to yer buddies now! He refused to line up when we got the same stage again later that day...he couldn't handle it! lol
2) Memorial day meet in 2005. Great time.
What are yours?

My favorite kill was a 350Z. We started about 3/4 mile away from the main gate to Fort Sam Houston. As we got close to the gate, I had him by about 3 lengths so I braked hard and took a right into an office complex. He was too slow to react and blasted thru the main gate at about 60 mph. All vehicles were required to stop for an ID check before entering the post, so the cops shut down all the gates and went after the guy......never heard anything more about it.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I have the same feeling about my car, theres nothing quite like it. I could never sell it for a few reasons, one being how much I love the car and the second because of how much work I've put into it with my own two hands. Its an amazing little car....I hope your new purchase goes well.
Welcome home.In other news theres a silver with 14k miles unmolested at a dealer near me
You'd be in for a long ride home (approx 6 hours) but it could be worth it! Link: http://cars.dealer123.com/Anchor-Sub...839-93658.htmlIts 5 minutes from my house and one of my very close friends works there.

Yeah I agree the SRT-4 is a special car.Mine is almost paid off (bought it new in '03) and I'm thinking I'll hold onto it, even if I get a new car to drive everyday. The best part no doubt is the look on the faces of unsuspecting drivers of "sports" and "muscle" cars when they get beat by a "neon". I wouldn't call it a sleeper since it's kinda loud and overstated, but it IS an underdog, so when you beat some V8 mustang or 350Z it's great but if you lose, no big deal.
All in all it's a fun, unique, good looking, affordableand semi-practical car. It's got the power and sound of a musclecar thoughit only has 4-cylinders, and it's what most ricers wanna be. No wonder they all hate it!

I have had mine for almost a year now, I dont think I would give it up easily...The looks and turned heads I get every day almost, would be hard to give up. I like the big wing outback and the aggresive front end look, the interior is far better than my old cavalier and sunfire. IDK, the power is probably the biggest plus for me, with the growl of the exhaust the 2nd I think...
It is one awesome ride
Now, all I need is the t-shirt form Dusty to complete the look!!!!
