I'll bet it was the gear selector, not your tranny or gear box. the symptoms you describe were verbatim to my issue.

The workshop checked in the enginebay and under the car and everything was connected there, does the gear selector have anything to do with that?

Yes. Check the pin on the gear selector. It's what the linkage cable and bushing attaches to. Hopefully that's the problem since it's not too serious, other than the fact that you cant really drive the car until you fix it.

The same thing happened to me, but i was going from 2nd to 3rd. When the dealership looked it over they told me that the fork got stuck and when i went to shift it all got jammed up and something blew up and put 2 holes in the side of the transmission, had to to get a new transmission. Luckily the warranty covered it

This wasn't the shifting linkage or the cables. If this is the "fork" if you call it that, what can I do? Do I have to have another gearbox or can I fix this?
If it were a shift fork you could simply replace the shift fork and make sure there was no resulting damage done by any pieces floating around. However, it isn't likely to be a shift fork since they operate in gear pairs in this tranny, one for 1st and 2nd, another for 3rd and 4th and the last for 5th and reverse, 3 shift forks in all. If it were a shift fork it would be far more likely to lose 1st and 2nd or 3rd and 4th (which is one of the many things that happened to my '88 Shelby Z) and not the 3 yours has lost. If all the external components are operating fine then it must be internal, maybe just a broken shift cover component.

get it looked at. i guess from where you are any rebuild might be much much cheaper than a new tranny.

I could be wrong but I think the selector pin that breaks is on the shifter, not the tranny. If that's the case you may not be able to fix it without replacing the shifter. Maybe try putting your stock shifter back in and see if that works? Just an idea.
