Motor mounts bolt keep snaping!!!?????
Long time since I was here last,
But anyway here is my problem,
Has this happened to anyone? I went to the track on Friday to test out the new slicks, I make one pass snap the lower bolt that conects the motor mount to the bracket and oil pan! pissed but said buy the dog bone mounts new bolt. So I did that. sunday at the races, Did the burn out tires sticky made my pass ( 1500 rpms launch) Wheel hoped a little not much so we started to let the air out more on the slicks took a look at the mount and what the hell the same bolt snaped and bent the dog bone mount????
Has anyone had this problem? if so how, Do I need to get a bigger grade bolt? I forgot to take pictures to post to show what the hell its doing.
Or if any one knows the size or the thread on the bolt I guess I will see if I can have a meachnist make me one!?!?!
Any input would be help full

I have not snapped any bolts. Are you using the factory, or a replacement? What are the markings on the head of the bolt? Are they grade 5 or 8's? Metric equivilant markings would be 8.8 and 10.9 respectivly. Metric 10.9's are rugged. I'm working on this problem right now. Say good bye to wheel hop when I'm done. The new dogbone is not absorbing as much impact as the stock one did. Even with inserts. The force needs to be directed across the other side of the engine compartment....to some more bolts man!
Actually my friend is going on his fourth oil pan. This is the second time he's cracked the lower mount's bracket. No clue how. Unless you really beat the living **** out of your car, that stuff shouldn't happen.

Wow, can't say that I've heard of that happening. I've heard of the same bolt coming loose and backing out, but not breaking. Sorry to hear it.[

check your actual motor mount, sounds like it broke. the dogbones and such are actually not motor mounts, but torque arms. under your engine in the middle of it there is the actual mount for the motor. if that broke it could easily cause this problem as the engine wouldn't be sitting in the proper position, and more stress would be on the lower bolt. boomba (I'm pretty sure it's them) are working on a replacement mount for here, but until then if it broke you will have to get a replacement one from the dealer. you're not the first one to have this problem.
also get the upgraded 12.9 bolts from deyeme racing, those are much harder to break.

Not for sure of the power I am makeing??? have not dynoed it yet still want to do more to it!,
I snap the original factory bolt first (Friday night and race on Sunday), so then I was stresed for time I found a place in Houston that had some dogbone's in (thinking that would solve the problem) WRONG it had a grade 8 in there when it snap again on Sunday and bent , I say bent the dogbone bottom mount (first practice run)[:@][:@][:@]!!!!
But yesterday had it on the left I also snaped the top bolts so I am going to a meshinest shop going to get some high grade **** made for all the bolts and putting in the orginal mounts but going to make our own sold mounts and give that a shot
If that wont work we have one more option and make our own mounts that are way diffrent then what we have seen so far to take the presser off the bolts and transefer to a diffrent spot[8D]
Has for the oil pan I am on my second one. the first time at the track I had a nasty wheel hope and that bottom mount knocked my oil pan and craked it!! SUCKED BAD This time when the bolt broke it flexed so bad the wires to the fans ripped out, my down pipe hit the subfram and bent it in about 1/2 inch (no ****) my new DSS axels , The passanger side one hit the subframe also taking the boot off.
Talk about getting pissed AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

custom solid mounts aren't going to help if the actuall motor mount is broken. maybe you're not understanding exactly what i'm talking about.
dogbones, and other "motor mounts" out there are not the actual motor mounts on the car. they are really torque arms. their purpose in life is to keep the motor from moving under load. there is an actual mount that the motor is attached to in the middle near the botom. this is what actually keeps the motor attached to the car. if that mount broke, even a solid steel torque arm isn't going to keep the motor from moving around. check that mount, you have to get under the car to see it.
