Default showing a P 0340 code need advice

This morning I drove to work and things were fine but after 10miles or so if I pressed the gas and went above 2500rpm it would stutter and bog down, it idles fine and once it cools down it revs fine. The code is a crankshaft positions sensor please advise.

Erase the code and see if it lights up again. If it does then most likely it is the sensor being detected.

My guess would be you need to replace your crankshaft sensor.

If you rec'd a code, it may be an early warning sign of a future failure of the Cam Position Sensor, or as you mention just a glitch, which could be the ECU, or the sensor having a bad day.

If it happens again, replace the sensor.

A camshaft sensor ($35) from Advance Auto fixed mine. 56K - changed plugs (OEM Champion RE14MCC5 @ .085"! Changed to Champion #3570 Pt.). Aftermarket gascap tossed - MOPAR $15 cap got rid of the sporadic gas cap codes. Occasional irrelevant EGR code thought to be leaking resevoir on OCC. Runs like new - she ate up the rest of her Kumho tires - see other thread.

Champs gapped at .085" .045" is stock, but if you're pushing more boost, reduce to .035" to avoid blowout of spark. Sure wider can be better, but when I ran stock STG 1, .045" was fine, but going to STG II needed smaller gap, as I encountered blowout at .045" All is well now, no problems!

The OEM Champs had .085" the first time they were off the car - 56k! The center electrode was quite short. I just can't believe they didn't spring for Pt's! Of course, it came with dino-oil in it, too. Still runs like a top. I still need a new code reader - it won't come from H-F, that's for sure. I'm guessing the plugs needed changing at 24k.

Code reader? On an SRT4 you don't require a reader as you can get the codes via the igniton/key switch. You are aware of that I am hoping, so why waste $$$ on a reader? If you need a list of the code definitions shoot me a PM and I'll provide you with the list.
