Should I upgrade???
I just got an 04 SRT-4 about 2 months ago, and am looking at doing upgrades like stage 1,2, and 3... I know that if I use the mopar parts the warranty is not voided, but they will not fix anything if it is damaged as a result of the upgrades. I was wondering, how much at risk am I that I will experience problems with the car associated with the uprgrades.
Thanks
Andrew

You have the basic idea, but extend it to : They can't void your warranty for any aftermarket parts, not just Mopar. They bear the burden of proving that the modification caused the failure, and make no distinction between Mopar and anyone else. Mopar perfoemance is a different company than oem mopar parts. They say right on the packaging - that the parts are not intended for use on poll. cont. veh...just like any other aftermarket part company.
That being said, The risk with stage 1 or 2 is minimal, and I would imagine with 3 only marginally higher if at all. The advantage of having bought Mopar parts is that they are VERY thohoughly developed, specifically for the srt-4. They Rarely cause a problem in driveability, and should prove to be durable. That isn't a guarantee, but it is good enough for me - the risk is definitely outweighed by the reward of my s2...

So the Stage 2 should not damage the engine of transmission, anything like that... I know that **** happens, I just dont want to run into problems with the drive train and stuff in the future as a result of any upgrades.

I would say that really - it depends how you drive your car. If you do burnouts and such, and drive real hard, there is always the chance that something could go wrong. If you drive responsibly, you should be safe.
Also, if you upgrade your car and have an issue, there is always a chance that they will try to give you problems, whether it's right or not. If you are stock and hammer on your car it is hard for them to deny you anything.
Or there is another option - find a dealer that is mod. friendly. This isn't easy, but it's possible. If you were in N.Y. or PA, I could steer you to a good dealer - anyone know of one in Fla?

Oh ok, I was planning on taking it to the tracks every now and then... Maybe like once every other month... So I will not be running it that hard, I mean I drive fast on the road, but I dont like burn out or anything like that. Im in central florida, and none of the dealerships around hear will even install the stage kits much less give me a break. I think that I am going to get the stage 2 eventually, but I was thinking about getting the Mopar exhaust first, the Euro tailights, and then get the stage two....
Hell Ive only had the car for about 2 months, and am still getting used to it... Its a lot of fun
What do you think about the Mopar short shifter, any benefit there?

Mopar sts- great part - changed the shifting dramatically, I would do a metal **** with a little more weight at the same time - modernperformance has a good one that looks stock for 50.
Exhaust is a definite - you need it to achieve stage 2 numbers anyway.
Look into prothane motor mount inserts for like 30$, and Oil catch cans(for 20$ you can make one that works great).
Do some upgraded spark plug wires - they will make your car run soooooo much smoother.
Check under the clutch pedal - there is a wire that may or may not be getting crushed - it is your brake light and you might want to move it if it is.
Get at least a drop in filter, the stock paper is pretty restrictive.
If I think of any more cheap mods for you I'll post them.

Do you have any recommendations as to where I get these parts, do you have a place that you consistently buy from?
How hard are the inserts for the motor mounts? I have some experience with cars, just not sport compacts and 4 cyls.

I forgot a big one. You can get front and rear sway bars that are from the PT cruiser and Neon ACR - 26mm front and 19mm rear. They are real cheap (like 110$ for the pair) and help improve the handling vastly - you will like these - especially at the track. They also make rear tension struts for 40$ that will stop the rear from hopping under heavy brake load.
I got these at performance dodge - James is the guy to talk to over there - he is awesome.
Motor mount inserts were a 20-30 minute install for me - they go in no problem.
Actually all the mods I mentioned are pretty to do yourself if you are good with tools.
I think modern carries most of the stuff and they have good prices and ship quickly if the parts are in stock.
There are a lot of other vendors out there, as well.
On the intake - I love my short ram - it is an AEM and I swear by their products. they make a cai too - I hear the typhoon is good as well.
