wot shift and heel-toe help with srt4
can anyone here heel toe downshift? if so, is it hard and what exactly do you do, i know the basics but jus wondering how its done and the same wit WOT shifts. [sm=bounceybounce.gif]
My feet are too big for heel toe, but I can WOT shift without a problem. WOT shifts are just that, keep the gas to the floor and shift as quickly as possible.
Mine foes right into gear. My feet are too big for heal and toe as well. i use the fat foot version of heal and toe. One side of your foot on the brake and one side on the gas. With pressure on the brake twist your foot and give a little gas then downshift. It goes in much easier.
Really, the point of heel toe shifting is as coyoteys13 said, but to add to his explanation, the goal is rev matching. You don't want any change in momentum in turns when downshifting, and heel toeing it enables you to get the gears moving before you let out the clutch so you can keep up speed, and have no jerkiness while you are at high cornering loads.
I can and do, do it in the srt-4, but the setup makes it tough. The steering wheel is too low to move your leg freely while you twist your foot. Putting the wheel a little higher helps, but I don't like the position for driving, personally. The pedal placement is also less than perfect, but it can be done.
wot - you leave the gas fully depressed while you blip the clutch and shift the gear. It takes timing, but definitely works well. Kinda' pointless with s0, It is a s1 and 2 feature that holds the boost while you do this. It will reward you with quicker acceleration and a loud pop, maybe a flame out of the tailpipe.

Try using the sides of your foot instead of your heal and toe. You are right about the pedal and wheel setup. The car is not made for road racing, however it can be used for it with a lot of mods.
just do what i do. give it a good rev before you let the clucth out. little easier than heel toeing it. ive never liked heel toe tho.. so i just rev macth my way.

But heal and toing it is so cool. On top of that, if you are breaking into a turn, you don't want to take your foot off of the break. That is where the "art" of heal and toe come in. Just watch NASCAR road races. I love it when a road course ringer kicks the crap out of those left turn only non drivers. Real racers turn left and right.
wot shifting still kicks my but i cant shift quick enough to keep up with rpms and just wondering what kind of time gain would you see using this tech over traditional shifting?
i never actually tried wot-shift & heel-toe techniques. But, i have been trying Left-foot-braking. I have a British buddy who's rally races here in Europe and he's giving me some pointers
