You shouldn't have any problems, but I do highly recommend that you get the MSD Super Conductor spark plug wires, K & N filter, Mobil 1 synthetic and an oil catch can (OCC). These are things everyone should get for their SRT-4 wether they are keeping it stock or modifying it. They improve it's operation as well as maximizing the fuel mileage and freeing up some horsepower as well.

The heat in the engine compartment gets rather high because of the turbo and since the plug wires, mainly the #4 plug wire because it comes straight out from the coil pack and over the turbo, is right above the turbo they are known to fail. The MSD wires are far better and can withstand the higher temperatures and the #4 wire as well as all the others are angled away from the turbo. The MSD's also have far less resistance than the factory wires which creates hundreds of times stronger and better spark that will increase power and fuel mileage while lowering emissions due to a more complete burn. You can get them through any speed shop like Jegs, Summit, Mancini, etc. or you can order them through most of our sponsors here on DF, they usually go for around $45.

The K & N filter will last forever and it will free up more horsepower as well as improving your fuel mileage at the same time. You can get them almost anywhere, Auto Zone carries them in stock.

Mobil 1 synthetic is great oil that frees up even more horsepower while protecting the entire engine and turbo far better than conventional oils, it will also reduce engine temperatures and increase fuel mileage even more. The manufacturer also highly recommends the use of Mobil 1 synthetic in the SRT-4. You can get it just about everywhere.

An OCC will keep oil out of the parts of the engine that it doesn't belong in. For full and complete info on the OCC check the top of the SRT-4 section where there is a thread on OCC install. It will tell you what you need, where to get it and how to do it as well as answering any of your questions about what it is, why you need/want it and how it works. You can get everything for around $20.

So it's just the plug wires, not the plugs that i'll probably have to replace?

Pretty much, I haven't heard about plug problems with any stock SRT-4's yet. In fact, the only time I've ever had plug problems was in my Roadrunner with the worn out 400 that use to be in it and it wasn't the plugs it was the bad valve seals leaking oil onto the plugs fouling them out. Heck, my '88 Shelby Z with the 2.2L Turbo II had the original Champion plugs and wires dated for late '87 still on it when I bought it and it was well over 145,000+ miles at the time and it ran perfectly fine. I couldn't believe it and wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it for myself. I've used several different types of plugs in my Roadrunner and currently run Champions in it and have ran nothing but Champions in my '87 Shelby Z, '88 Shelby Z, '99 Neon R/T and now my SRT-4 and haven't had a problem with them yet.
