Overall reliability
I'm a prospective buyer of this sexy little beast and i was just wondering how you guys felt about the reliability (un-modded) of this car. I will be using it as a daily driver to work. I am used to my un-killable Mazda Miata which I have had for the past three years and encountered very few mechanical problems. Also i have read posts about needing new spark plugs after only 3000 miles. This seems extreme since my last set of plugs lasted around 30K. Thanks for your input.
i've got about 20k miles on mine, daily driver . no mechanical problems. spark plugs are fine, i've also just started to notice a problem with my 4th sparkplug wire, i need to get the msd setup. i don't drive as spiritly as i should
the spark plug issue is because the stock champions are too hot a plug for the car. change them out for a colder plug and there's no problems. now i definetly wouldn't suggest leaving a set of plugs in this car for 30k, they should be changed probably once a year. a turbo car runs a lot hotter than a n/a car and as such there is a little more maintenence involved to keep things going as they should.
an un-modded srt usually has no problems. there are some basic issues that many cars have, but nothing more than any other car on the market. in fact a lot less issues than some that i've heard of. the plugs and wires, tps issue, and, well, that's mainly it for stock cars. they're fine when stock, but if you mod expect things to break, as with any other car.
just keep up with maintenence (synthetic oil changed every 3k, plugs and wires once a year, tranny fluid every 12k, etc.) and you should see no problems.

Good, i was starting to worry that this car was going to be too much of a handfull. What kind of deal should i expect to get in northwest Missouri on a new one? The only option i care about is a sunroof and i can afford a 5000+ downpayment.
don't expect much of a deal at all. expect msrp, maybe a few hundred less, but that's it. there are no incentives on srt vehicles either.
a tip - get in touch with the internet or fleet sales manager at your local dealership. they will usually sell cars for msrp, so you don't have to deal with the headache of fighting over markups (i've heard of anywhere form 1-5K mark ups for "limited avaibility").
